Super Bowl LIV Ticket Costs Have Hit An All-Time High

The Super Bowl is America’s largest sporting event, and the big game carries plenty of hype every year.

But the pending showdown between the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs in Miami seems to have far more hype compared to previous Super Bowl matchups. And there are plenty of reasons for that.

This game features the new face of the league in Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes. He leads an offensive machine — led by Pro Bowl tight end Travis Kelce and speedy wideout Tyreek Hill — that will go up against one of the most dominant defensive units in history.

The big game is only three days away now, and ticket costs for Super Bowl LIV at Hard Rock Stadium have hit an all-time high.

As noted by Chris Bengel of CBS, the average Super Bowl LIV ticket price on StubHub is $6,414. As of this writing, the cheapest ticket available on the website is still a whopping $4,975. Bengel added that Super Bowl LII between the Philadelphia Eagles and the New England Patriots carried an average ticket price of $5,373, which was previously an all-time high.

SeatGeek communications manager Chris Leyden explained in an interview with Fox Business, that a ticket for the Chiefs-49ers showdown is “the most in-demand we have ever seen.” As of this writing, the cheapest available Super Bowl ticket on SeatGeek is listed at $6,115.

The 49ers also have one of the biggest fanbases across the country, thanks to their dynastic run during the ’80s and ’90s. The team won five Super Bowls over a 14-year span between the 1981 and 1994 seasons

Sunday will mark Kansas City’s first Super Bowl appearance in 50 years. They beat the heavily favored Minnesota Vikings in Super Bowl IV, and if Mahomes and company can put a halt on the surging 49ers, Kansas City will have earned its second Lombardi Trophy.

It promises to be a showdown for the ages between two of football’s premier clubs.
