Ashley Graham addresses awkward Hugh Grant interview after hes labelled obnoxious
Ashley Graham has broken her silence on the awkward interview that she conducted with Hugh Grant at Sunday night's Oscars.
The interview caused shock across the globe as the 62 year old Notting Hill actor appeared to be unamused by Ashley's questions, giving very short unworkable answers, and even rolled his eyes at one point.
Predictably, there have been reactions to the moment spreading like wildfire as well as many mentions on TV shows, as people are divided on whether Hugh was "rude" or simply displaying a sarcastic British sense of humour.
Model Ashley remained dignified about the interview, as she told TMZ at LAX airport on Monday: "You know what, my mama told me to kill people with kindness."
Hugh stopped to speak to Ashley who was one of presenters for ABC’s Countdown To The Oscars, but the rom-com legend looked like he wanted to be anywhere but there.
As Ashley attempted to engage him with a question, she asked the star what his favourite part of attending the Oscars was.
She was met with an awkwardly long pause, before Hugh eventually replied: “It’s fascinating … the whole of humanity is here … it’s Vanity Fair.”
“Oh yes, it’s all about [the] Vanity Fair [after party], that’s where we need to let loose and have a little fun,” the model replied, seemingly missing Hugh’s reference to the 1848 novel by William Makepeace Thackery, rather than the magazine.
Trying again to converse with the 62 year old, Ashley asked Hugh who he was excited to see. He replied: “No one in particular.”
Making a desperate attempt at getting some conversation from the actor, Ashley asked him about the designer of his suit, as she said: "What are you wearing?" to which he bluntly replied: "Just my suit."
Ashley then tried to ask Hugh about the film Knives Out: Glass Onion with him, in which he had a small cameo.
“So tell me what it felt like to be in Glass Onion, it was such an amazing film, I really loved it – I love a thriller. How fun is it to shoot something like that?” she asked.
Hugh then had a blank look on his face as he told her that he was “barely in it”, adding: “I’m in it for about three seconds.”
Asking if he still had fun despite his brief appearance, the actor simply said: “Almost," before appearing to roll his eyes as he left the interview.
Viewers of the awkward exchange were quick to comment on the moment as they flooded Twitter with their opinions, as one said: "I love Hugh Grant and I love British humour but this was just plain rude. She tried so hard."
But someone else was here for Hugh's response, as they tweeted: "Say what you want about Hugh Grant at the Oscars but him being rude in the face of exhausting faux American positivity is relatable and hilariously refreshing."
