Ulrika Jonnsson, 54, has spoken about why she is doing Celebs Go Dating after recieving negative comments about her chronic back pain earlier in the week. The writer and broadcaster has accepted she will be the “mum/grandma” on the dating show.
I may be old but I ain’t dead.
The TV personality has been confirmed to have joined Celebs Go Dating in a bid to look for love three years after her divorce from Brian Monet.
The star split with her husband in 2019 after 11 years of marriage.
She previously said the two attempted couples therapy but when things didn’t work out they decided to part ways.
On joining this year’s E4 dating show, Ulrika said: “Three years ago I got divorced, I hadn’t anticipated being single at my age.
“I’m enjoying it but I look forward to working with Anna [Williamson] and Paul [Carrick Brunson], I’m sure they will have me back on track to finding love in no time.”
Ulrika carried on to justify her reasoning for going on the show in her column with The Sun, released today.
She said: “I am the mum/grandma of our divine group of twentysomething celebs.
“I may be old but I ain’t dead.”
The TV personality admitted she is a “dinosaur” and dating apps just do not work for her.
She said: “I cling on to making connections with people I can physically meet.
“So, I’m hoping that putting my affairs in the hands of telly’s dating agents might create a little disruption.”
Ulrika admitted that she is a bit “nuts” and does not “want to go the whole hog just yet”.
Having never watched Celebs Go Dating before Ulrika said she wanted to do the show because of Sue and Alex who married after meeting on Cilla Black’s Blind Date.
Joining this year’s E4 series is rapper and singer Abz Love, TOWIE favourite Chloe Brockett, Made in Chelsea heart-throb Miles Nazaire, Married at First Sight UK’s Nikita Jasmine and Apprentice star Ryan-Mark Parsons.
The news of her appearance on the dating show comes as Ulrika was left to justify her back issues on Instagram after receiving hate from posting a video explaining her “degenerative disc disease”.
Ulrika called out the social media user branding them “t***ty b*****ks”.
She shared the brutal message on the picture-sharing site, in view of her 175,000 followers.
3myr_hughes wrote: “I’m no doctor but your back problems probably stem from the amount of time you spent on said back over the years.”
Ulrika captioned the post: “That’s right, t***ty b*****ks @3myr_hughes. GO GET HIM FOLKS!” (sic)
A fan responded to Ulrika, saying: “That is slanderous. I’m sure you have rocked all imaginable positions my darling.”
