Nick Knowles sheds two stone after eating all the pies during lockdown

TV star Nick Knowles has vowed to lose the extra pounds he gained over lockdown and get fit again after he admitted he "ate all the pies."

The family favourite told The Mirror he is going to get healthy again and admitted he lost his fitness routine during the first lockdown.

Nick, who is reportedly dating someone 27 years his junior, said: "I’ve made a living by looking like a bag of spanners on TV. I’m 18 stone, I’m massive."

The TV veteran has been presenting and mucking in with his iconic purple polo and hard hat on DIY SOS for over 20 years. He discussed the impact the lockdown had on his image and realised the reliance he had working on site for all those years.

The 59 year old presenter added: “I’m always on building sites. During lockdown I put on almost four stone. I’ve taken two stone off now and I’m getting fit again."

In a wide ranging career, Nick has written a movie, presented prime-time Saturday night TV and starred in I'm A Celebrity in 2018.

Nick even released an album in 2017 titled Every Kind of People, where he covers a selection of his favourite songs.

The star, who recently defended Stacey Solomon after viewers accused her of "copying" his show, is no stranger to the red carpet but recently became disgruntled with the scene.

He said: “I would go to those events and there would be schoolkids asking for autographs. A load of people from reality programmes would go past without signing autographs and it would upset me.”

Nick also said he would like to see Prince William and his brother The Duke Of Sussex become close again. He's worked with both the Royals and wants to see them bury the hatchet.

The presenter and charity ambassador said: "It’s a great sadness that they are not seeing eye to eye. I hope, because they are really good lads with really good hearts, they find a way to find their way through it."

The lockdown did not just have a physical impact on Nick, in May he also told The Mirror of the positives he tried to find during that time.

He reflected on relationships earlier in the year. In May he reflected: "There are times in your life when you are with someone, and there are times when you're not. And being single can actually be a very positive thing."

"Having a three-month, enforced sit-down has actually been one of the best things that's happened to me in my life."
