Our Yorkshire Farm’s Amanda Owen has spoken candidly about life at her home at Ravenseat over the past year and explained how “problems and issues” the family have faced have left her suffering with “panic attacks”.
The issues faced by the Yorkshire shepherdess, 46, have come about as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and the effect it has had on their life on the farm, where she lives with husband Clive Owen, 67, and their children.
Amanda was talking to Welcome to Yorkshire about the struggles she has faced during the pandemic.
The mum of nine explained how she has experienced “panic attacks” over worries about having enough food for her huge brood during the several lockdowns of the past 18 months.
She said: “Of course, having nine children at home and how much they actually consumed – I’d be having a panic attack every time I heard the fridge door go.”
She weighed up the issues she has faced with the positives that have come out of the lockdowns where she has had the chance to spend more quality time with her family.
Amanda said: “This year has been a very strange year, of course, with lockdown.
“I’ve very much missed the people coming back – even though we live remotely and I suppose, as isolated as it gets, it really felt… there’s been a feeling in the air that things aren’t right.”
She explained: “During lambing time, everything continued as normal because your focus is entirely on the sheep. But once we were past lambing time and into May, that’s usually when the tourists, the visitors come back and of course, they didn’t this year.”
The tough shepherdess would not let her concerns beat her and admitted to finding a “rhythm” with the changes they’ve experienced.
She said: “But we’ve got ourselves into the rhythm of it, we’re battling all the usual things we would be battling, the elements, the rain, the sunshine, you name it.
"That is what we’re good at, being from Yorkshire, being farmers, we can turn our hands to anything.”
Amanda and Clive share nine children together, Miles, 15, Edith, 12, Violet, ten, Sidney, nine, Annas, seven, Clemmy, five, and Nancy.
Amanda’s eldest two children, Raven, 20, and Reuben, 16 have now moved out of the family farm.
Amanda shared some family pictures recently and looked stunning as she showed off her slim physique and natural beauty in a series of snaps on Instagram.
Sharing the photos with her 375,000 followers, the mum-of-nine revealed she and some of her brood had been making the most of the sunshine by enjoying some outdoor swimming.
