Piers Morgan has taken to Twitter to mock Meghan Markle’s podcast episode. The former Good Morning Britain presenter, 57, was quick to react following the release of Meghan’s first episode of her podcast series, Archetypes, which recived a one-star review from some critics.
The reviews are in…
TalkTV personality Piers took to Twitter to air his thoughts in view of his 7.9 million followers.
Piers wrote: “The reviews are in..” followed by a laughing emoji.
The TV star reposted a review from The Times which awarded the podcast just one star.
It claimed that the podcast, which saw the Duchess of Sussex speak with tennis star Serena Williams, was “packed with tinkly music and vapid chat”.
Following Piers’ review, his fans were quick to take to the comments to ait their thoughts on the subject.
Twitter user @SShatterface replied: “I haven’t listened to it, and don’t really intend to do so, but the fact it’s p****d you off so much automatic makes it a 5star masterpiece.”
However, others defended the star for his take, with @grahal1 commenting: “Love @piersmorgan, it’s so refreshing to see someone telling it like it is.. tells us all we need to know.”
@EmmaSR1 also added: “I listened, wanting to give it a fair go…but have to wholeheartedly agree with rating. Never heard such a load of guff. Basically a huge whingeathon.
“We didn’t learn anything about Serena, who has had such a fascinating life, which was surely the point?” they questioned.
While @SimonBeechinor chipped in: “Some folk at Spotify may be about to be accused of lousy judgement… It’s dire.”
It comes as Piers’ wife Celia Walden said the interview allowed for “maximum navel-gazing”.
Celia wrote: “But the podcast is an interview with this inspirational sporting figure in name only.
“If the rest of the season is anything like the premiere, what we’re really going to be listening into week after week is Meghan interviewing herself.
“Maybe the former actress doesn’t realise she’s doing this.
“Or maybe the plan was always to invite a series of foils on to debate cultural and societal unfairnesses that Meghan has (coincidentally) also been a victim of.
“Certainly, this week’s offering, ‘The Misconception of Ambition’, allows for maximum navel-gazing,” she penned in The Telegraph.
The first episode of the Duchess’ podcast saw her discuss being branded ambitious after starting her romance with Prince Harry.
She was also credited with helping Serena decide to retire from tennis from the sporting star herself.
Meghan and Harry signed their Spotify deal in 2020 after quitting as working royals for a new life in Montecito, California.
