Rebecca Jane defends Ben Foden and urges people to 'stop attacking him'
Big Brother’s Rebecca Jane has spoken out in defence of Ben Foden following her interview on This Morning.
Ben tied the knot with Jackie Belanoff last week after just two weeks of dating, and Rebecca revealed she had ‘no inkling’ that he was seeing anyone else when they were allegedly exchanging sexy text messages before his surprise wedding..
She appeared on the ITV programme, saying: ‘I can categorically say when I’ve met him or spoken to him, or anything of the kind, I have absolutely had no inclination that there would ever be anybody else.
‘And he has certainly not said that to me and I would like to not be cynical and believe that’s the case. I’m not going to sit here and slam him and I think that in my personal opinion he has been a decent person towards me.
‘However, from reading everything, if we believe everything I think that some of his conduct is probably questionable.’
She has since tweeted regarding her appearance on the show and the backlash Ben has faced and urged people not to harass him.
Rebecca explained: ‘I think it’s time to put the story about Ben… and specially myself, to bed. Whilst I don’t like addressing this so bluntly, I feel like this is the only way to close the chapter.
‘To clarify. I have no problem with him. I never wanted a relationship with Ben, and we had fun whilst it lasted.
‘My concern right now is that the opinions some people are expressing could cause serious harm to the mental health of Ben, and everyone else involved.’
She urged fans to think of the effects their words could have on Ben’s mental health, writing: ‘I think it’s easy to forget that people involved in media have feelings too. Not only that but it’s how it affects everyone surrounding them.
‘I don’t particularly care that I’ve been called a wh**e, s**g and hypocrite (to name a few), but I care how that affects others in my life. I made mistakes in my past, I learnt from them and in this messy tale, I’ve been entirely innocent.
‘There’s some people out there who are very hurt by this whole situation. No one bar Ben will ever know the truth, but that doesn’t give anyone the right to attack him. Not one person has ever lived a perfect life.’
She added: ‘For a solid week I have seen endless nasty and vile comments about him and his conduct. The question is this, if anything happened to him, would the keyboard warriors be able to live with themselves??’
