Gethin Jones, 43, and Janette Manrara, 37, have worked together several times on both Strictly Come Dancing and Morning Live, during which the dancer confided in the BBC host about how much she wanted to pursue a career as a TV presenter. It wasn’t long before Janette achieved her dream and landed her role as host of Strictly spin-off show It Takes Two, alongside Rylan Clark-Neal, this year.
However, Janette’s new role has come with a sacrifice, as she can’t continue with her role as a Strictly pro.
Since Janette landed the job, Gethin has revealed that the dancer will “miss” the performance aspect of working on the BBC show.
Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, Gethin said Janette had shared the news of her It Takes Two job with him before the BBC announced it.
He shared: “I think it’s always a bit confidential but Janette had told me before.
“I knew she was going on The One Show to announce it that night and she sent me a little text, which was really sweet, and she is so excited about it, you can see.
“I think people are really engaged with her.”
Detailing the one downside to Janette’s new role, Gethin added: “It’s going to be something really different for her for sure, but I think she’ll really miss the performance element, of course she will, because that’s what she’s known for so many years.
“But she’s equally excited about the challenge of hosting such an iconic show.”
Janette recently confessed to feeling “emotional” while watching her former co-stars perform.
Her admission came after Strictly presenter Claudia Winkleman welcomed the dancer onto the programme on Saturday night, after each couple had performed.
She quizzed Janette on how it felt to be a viewer this year, rather than performing on the show.
“How does it feel being here and not dancing?” Claudia asked.

Janette revealed: “It’s been quite emotional actually.
“I watched the launch show and I cried the whole way through it.”
“I have no voice again because I have been screaming for every single couple,” she remarked.
The former Strictly pro added: “I just have to say yet again, Strictly Come Dancing opening show tonight, every single couple was absolutely amazing.
“So, well done to all the pros, all the celebs, the whole team. It’s just the best show on telly.”
Claudia then asked Janette how she was feeling ahead of her first show in the new job, quizzing: “Are you nervous or excited?”
The dance star replied: “Excited! Yes, because Strictly Come Dancing is all about dancing and celebrating that right?
“So, although I’m not going to be actually dancing on the floor I’m still going to be celebrating it.
“I’m going to be laughing and crying and being a part of their journey, so I can’t wait.”
