Sophie, Countess of Wessex has revealed she had a "lengthy chat" with Prince Harry at Prince Philip's funeral.

Prince Edward's wife Sophie, 56, said the Royals are "still a family no matter what happens", following 36 year old Harry's explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Sophie and 57 year old Prince Edwards were reported to have "barely acknowledged" the Duke of Sussex at Prince Philip's funeral in April.

But, the Countess of Wessex has now revealed that is not the case, and she in fact had a "lengthy chat" with Harry.

Speaking in her first public interview following Prince Philip's funeral, Sophie told The Telegraph: "We are still a family no matter what happens, we always will be."

And, when quizzed on Harry and wife Meghan Markle's interview with Oprah Winfrey, Prince Edward smiled and said: "Oprah who?"

While Sophie added: "Yes, what interview."

The couple have taken a more prominent role in the Royal Family since Prince Harry and Meghan, 39, stepped down from their roles as senior working Royals.

Speaking of their new-found prominence in the Royal Family, Sophie said: "We've plodded along doing what we're doing, hopefully doing it well. And then all of a sudden there's a bit of a hiatus and things have changed a bit.

"Naturally, the media are looking for people to fill the so-called void."

She added: "If people want to pay more attention to what we're doing, then great."

Sophie also discussed the grief her family have experienced following the death of Prince Philip age 99 in April this year.

She said her children Lady Louise Windsor and James, Viscount Severn, "still keep expecting to see grandpa arrive in his green Land Rover".

Meanwhile, Sophie and Prince Edward vowed to continue the late Prince Philip's work through his Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme.

They added that the Queen had been "keeping busy" since her husband's passing, as Edward added: "The job is not something you can walk away from, it just carries on relentlessly."

Sophie also discussed the heartbreaking images of The Queen, 95, sat alone during the funeral of Prince Philip.

"To see Her Majesty on her own; it was very poignant," she said.
