'Teen Mom': Jenelle Evans 'Scared' After Being Diagnosed with 'Rare' Spinal Condition
When former Teen Mom 2 star Jenelle Evans makes YouTube videos, they typically have something to do with her children or her on-and-off relationship with her husband, David Eason. But her most recent video had a much more somber tone. In the video, she revealed that she had developed a spinal condition.
Jenelle Evans’ health
In her recent YouTube video, Evans revealed she had Syringomyelia, which is the development of a fluid-filled cyst in a person’s spinal cord.
“So today’s video is gonna be a little different,” she said. “I don’t really talk about my health too much. I give you guys updates here and there but I really don’t keep you too updated with it.
“Before I was going to come out to the public and just tell you guys this, I wanted to figure out myself what was going on with my body because for so long as you guys know like back back back in 2018 when we were filming ‘Teen Mom,’ I ended up going to New York City to the neurologist to get some testing done and it came up abnormal but not too abnormal to be concerning so doctors really couldn’t figure out my weird symptoms.
Then in September of 2020, Evans started having neck problems. She said that her neck would pop like “ten times a day.” The constant cracking would cause her to have headaches at the end of the day. The pain eventually started to get in the way of Evans’ ability to be a mom and work.
Her primary care doctor decided to monitor her neck and get an MRI done but nothing came up. After being referred to a neurologist close to her, she had a nerve study done. Last week, doctors finally discovered that Evans had a cyst on her spine.
What is Jenelle Evans’ life like now?
Since finding out about the cyst, Evans said that she has not spoken to the doctor because she just got the results over the weekend.
“It’s pretty concerning. That’s not good. None of this is good,” she said. The former reality star is still in pain.
“I have neck pain every day and headaches every day and my neck cracks every day,” she said.
“I do what I can. By this time, at 5 o’clock, I usually have to tap out because my neck hurts so bad. I try to get up and be happy and act like I don’t have this problem,” she continued.
“I have head shaking too, it’s kind of embarrassing, it feels like a tremor. My hands are not that steady and my fingertips are numb most of the time.”
Evans feels like the problem is getting worse.
“It’s kind of scary,” she continued. “I feel like slowly I’m losing my ability in my hands and I really need that. I really need my hands!”
When she initially got her results, Evans was devastated.

“It really sucks. It had to be the worst thing ever when I got my results,” she said.
“It’s just, like, your life is off course. I have my kids here and my work is online. A lot of things are going through my mind right now.”
What is the treatment for Syringomyelia?
Evans is currently considering having the cyst removed.
“Hopefully I won’t be in pain anymore and it’ll be great,” she said. She also took to her Instagram Stories to ask others if they had developed Syringomelia and get suggestions on what to do.
