The Holidays begin for Marin Hinkle when she lands on the East Coast
“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” star Marin Hinkle is dreaming of a white Christmas.
Hinkle, 53, says her yearly holiday traditions begin the minute she steps off the plane in her hometown of Boston.
“I get myself to the East Coast because my priority is to get me to cold weather,” she told Page Six recently. “There’s something about when you’ve been brought up that way, you feel like the holiday season isn’t the holiday season unless it’s frigid.”
Each year, Hinkle, her husband Randall Sommer and their son split the holidays between her mother, who lives in Boston’s North End neighborhood, and her father, who lives in Cape Cod, Mass.
“We have these traditions where we go to Legal Seafood one night and Faneuil Hall one afternoon, then the North End for two nights,” she said. “Then on Cape Cod there are these diners that are open year-round and my dad lives in Falmouth, where you catch the boat to [Martha’s] Vineyard. So in Woods Hole, there’s like a beautiful little cafe we spend our afternoons in and we have our diner food.”
When asked what her “Maisel” character Rose Weissman might ask for as a Hanukkah present, Hinkle said she would probably love to get some new records to listen to.
“She would love to go back to Paris too,” Hinkle said.
As for what she’s hoping to get in real life, the actress told us, “I want my family to be healthy, like that’s such a silly thing, but that’s the truth.”
Season 3 of “Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” premieres on Dec. 6.
