Sophie, Countess of Wessex, chatted on a video call with Sarah Jane Cale, founder of the Positive Menopause website. The royal said that her menopause for her was “tricky” and it felt like “a shackle”. For the virtual chat, the Countess wore an open shirt and added a plum blazer to the look.

The 56-year-old explained: “Really we should be celebrating the fact that we don’t have to have periods anymore – it should be a liberation, but it feels like a shake.

“It’s described as something incredibly negative.

“One, yes, it’s an admittance of the fact that yes, we’re getting a bit older, we’re not as young as we were before, we’re not being, you know, to use the word ‘productive’, we are past that stage, and it’s quite a moment to admit it.”

The founder of the Positive Menopause website told the royal that approximately 13 million women in the workplace over the age of 40 have thoughts of leaving their jobs when they start to get symptoms.

For the virtual video call, Sophie wore a peach shirt which featured a collar and buttons down the middle.

The Countess opted to keep a couple of the buttons undone.

The gingham style number was paired with a plum-coloured blazer over the top.

It featured fitted shoulders and notch lapels.

Sophie kept her blonde locks natural with a slight curl and she kept her makeup simple with a brown eyeshadow and a brown lip.

She also added a pair of dainty gold earrings to complete the look.

The royal sat in her Bagshot Park home as she discussed the important issues with both Sarah Cole and Professor Dame Lesley Regan, who is the Chair of Wellbeing of Women.

Sophie explained: “I sort of go back to education; how much are young girls actually told at the beginning? Because I don’t remember having these lessons at all.

“When we’re told that we’re going to begin our periods, are we told that they’re going to end as well?

“There will be a period of time when you’re going through that phase where you might find things a bit tricky, but do you know what? Hormones are incredibly strong little critters in our bodies and they can be quite difficult to control so at that point, you really must see help and talk to everybody and be informed, because that will help you manage your circumstances.”

Posting the video on the Royal Family’s official Instagram account, the caption read: “Last week The Countess of Wessex spoke to professionals and volunteers about the taboos surrounding three key areas of women’s health – menstruation, menopause, and pregnancy.

Fans took to the comments not only to explain how inspirational Sophie is, but how stunning she also looked in her latest appearance.
