Meghan and Harry latest news – Royal couple raking in a fortune – from £112m Netflix deal to speeches paying £750k

MEGHAN Markle and Price Harry have become a 'cash-in couple' with big brands throwing dosh at the pair – and they're only set to make even more.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex landed a £30million deal with Spotify for their own podcast – adding to their £100million Netflix win.

So far, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are predicted to have netted up to £230million in their new life – after allegedly running up a colossal taxpayer bill in the UK.

Former Lib Dem MP and Privy Council member Norman Baker said:"Now from their right-on California pad, they have embarked on a massive spree to get rich, trading on their fading royal status while it lasts."

Duchess is said to have sparked anger from the palace after she allegedly enlisted close pal Oprah Winfrey to help flog a coffee investment via an Instagram post.

What's more, the Sussexes could top their earnings next year, with potential other multi-million-pound deals including a book deal for £47.5million and sponsored Instagram posts raking up up to £81million.

    'EVERYTHING SHE WANTED'

Royal expert Howard Hodgson has claimed Meghan Markle always intended to return to the US and got “everything she wanted” through Megxit.

Speaking to The Express, he said: “Meghan was very determined, had been advancing her career, was a minor star before she met a royal prince, married a royal prince, stayed as long as is decent in the country she didn’t want to be in doing jobs she didn’t want to do.

“Then there was a short trip to Canada, which was only very short because it was then going to get her back to exactly where she wanted — where she now is, and doing what she wants to do.”

Arguing that history is repeating itself, the expert added: “Harry is just being dragged along and will probably, if he’s not very careful, end up with the senselessly sad life that was that of the Duke of Windsor.”

    DEVOTED TO CHARITY WORK

Meghan is devoted to charity work, much like her husband Prince Harry.

She is the Global Ambassador for World Vision Canada and has been to Rwanda to promote the organisation’s Clean Water Campaign.

The Duchess of Sussex has also visited Afghanistan to support US forces and their families.

In 2014 she was involved in a UN campaign for gender equality.

MEGHAN MARKLE SETTLES PRIVACY CLAIM OVER IMAGE OF DUCHESS ON WALK WITH ARCHIE

Prince Harry and Meghan have settled a privacy claim with a picture agency over images of Meghan on a walk with Archie.

The Royal couple sued Splash news on behalf of their young son when their pictures were taken in January in Canada.

At the High Court this morning, the duchess’ lawyer Jenny Afia said the case had been settled due to the UK arm of the company going into administration during the pandemic.

HARRY & MEGHAN BISCUITS FLOGGED FOR LESS

Posh biscuits marking a trip by Prince Harry and Meghan to Royal Ascot are being flogged in bargain stores.

The shortbread treats were originally available for £16 a tin at London’s Harrods and Selfridges.

But they are now just £3.99 in budget chain TK Maxx.

And those snapping up the bargain 250g tins need to scoff them quickly as they are out of date in February.

Tins of teabags marking their 2018 wedding are also available at a half-price £4.

    MEGGING A GOOD IMPRESSION

Meghan Markle has been named the popular UK royal in the world – beating the likes of the Queen and Kate Middleton to clinch the top spot.

The former actress was crowned the top royal in a worldwide survey by OnBuy, with a popularity score of 14.5 per cent.

Hot on her heels was the Duchess of Cambridge, 38, who had a ranking of 14.4 per cent, and in third place was the Queen, 94, with a 14.3 per cent popularity score.

But the mum-of-three did come out on top in Instagram searches, with Kate known to be a keen photographer, often taking candid snaps of her three children.

Meghan, 39, won over the public despite her and Prince Harry announcing they were stepping back as senior royals earlier this year.

    CUND-LIKELY OLD FRIENDS

Meghan Markle is now one of the most recognised stars worldwide but just four years ago was pictured “climbing the ladder” at a high society party in 2016.

The then-Suits actress partied with Lizzie Cundy and Phones4U WAG Claire Caudwell at Claire’s pad in Mayfair in a never-before-seen snap.

At the party, Lizzie and Claire reportedly attempted to find the American actress a “famous British man” to date after the breakdown of her marriage to TV producer Trevor Engelson.

HARRY SURPRISES KIDS ON ZOOM CALL

Prince Harry surprised delighted kids on a Zoom call after they were recognised for their bravery at the WellChild awards.

The Duke of Sussex, 36, caught up with the previous winners of the awards on December 4 in a bid to encourage people to nominate for next year's awards.

Taking part in the call with The Duke was Maddison Sherwood, 12, Katie Ward, 13, Evie Toombes, 19 and Armaan (Marni) Ahmed, 11.

Maddison, from Loughborough, won the Inspirational Child award in 2014 while Katie Ward from Colchester won the Inspirational Child award in 2017.

Evie Toombes won the Inspirational Young Person award in 2018 and Marni from Leeds won the Inspirational Child award, aged seven to 10 in 2017.

The Duke, who has been Patron of WellChild since 2007, asked the group to tell him what they remembered about the evening and what it was like receiving their award.

Evie, from Skegness, told the Prince how she was nervous but electric with excitement.

    GHOST OF XMAS PAST

Meghan Markle once appeared wearing a Santa hat in a cheesy music video for a Christmas single.

The future Duchess of Sussex pops up in the clip for Richard Marx single Christmas Spirit from 2012.

Meghan, who had not long started in legal drama Suits, is seen sitting at a Christmas table miming the lyrics to the tune with a Santa hat on.

She is also smiling and nodding in step with the song.

The montage-style video also features cameos by much better known stars including Olivia Newton-John, David Copperfield and Hugh Jackman.

One viewer who spotted her said: “I suppose at the time she was starting out and any publicity would have been good.”

The video was filmed four years before she met Prince Harry and while she was all-but unknown in Britain.

    MEGGING MILLIONS

They have been footing their own bills since quitting the Royal Family and moving into their new £11million California home earlier this year.

But if their recent mega-money media deals are anything to go by, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry certainly aren't struggling to make ends meet.

It emerged this week that the couple have landed a £30million deal with Spotify for their own podcast – branded a "woke word salad" by listeners.

One insider said: “The initial multi-year deal is worth in excess of £30million with a view to extending it within six months.”

It comes on the back of a £112million Netflix deal – which led to Meghan being labelled the "new Kim Kardashian" – and a string of lucrative speaking events.

So far, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are predicted to have netted up to £230million in their new life – after allegedly running up a colossal taxpayer bill in the UK.

    PIERS SLAMS SUSSEXES

PIERS Morgan has hit out at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's "narcissistic" Spotify deal after he thought the trailer was a spoof.

The Good Morning Britain presenter branded the couple as "the most god-awful royal grifters" as they rake in £30million from their new venture.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex giggled about having “podcast voices” and even hummed Christmas songs during the heavily scripted three-minute trailer that Piers thought was a joke.

Slamming the pair's new venture in the Daily Mail, he wrote: "As with everything the Duke and Duchess of Sussex seem to do these days, their new commercial venture appears to be driven by large dollops of narcissism, hypocrisy and greed."

    VERY DRESS-FUL

The mastermind behind Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle's wedding dresses is said to be on the brink of homelessness after falling on hard times during the coronavirus pandemic.

Chloe Savage was once a revered embroiderer who was responsible for the glittering finishing touches on both the Duchesses' wedding dresses – but now her trade has entirely dried up.

Speaking to People Magazine, she said: "It's been horrific. We've had all our work literally dry up. My 14-year-old daughter is skipping meals to save on the food budget. The stress is getting to her."

Despite also working as a conservator for The National Trust, where she's responsible for 40,000 historic textile items at Tyntesfield house in North Somerset, Chloe's line of work has been greatly impacted by the pandemic.

The 43-year-old continued: "In January and February, we started seeing a lot of our international contracts getting put on hold.

"Work just disappeared. People like the National Trust very quickly said they would have to postpone our projects because they knew they were going to have a massive hole in their budget."

    MARKED MOVE

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry “had their world as their oyster” but “blew it” as Meghan wasn’t happy, says the Queen's former press secretary Dickie Arbiter.

Dickie spoke to True Royalty TV’s weekly programme The Royal Beat and said Prince Harry had “accepted his role” until Meghan came along.

Dickie told host Kate Thornton: “Their [Meghan and Harry’s] world was their oyster and they blew it. They literally blew it, they had everything [but] I don’t think everything was what Meghan wanted.

“Harry was the spare and the Cambridges are the heirs.

“He accepted his role, he was always born to that.

“Until Meghan came along and she could not accept that. She couldn’t accept being in the second row.”

    LINDO BLING

Pippa Middleton is expecting her second child with husband James Matthews, according to reports.

And if the birth of her firstborn Arthur is anything to go by, Pippa, 37, will again enjoy a five-star birthing experience at the £7,500-a-night Lindo Wing ward – which big sister Kate, 38, loves too.

When Arthur, now two, was due to arrive in October 2018, pregnant mum Pippa checked into the swanky London private maternity ward for the labour.

The pricey ward is popular with royals, with Princess Diana having Princes William and Harry there, and Kate giving birth to Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis there too.

MEGHAN MARKLE SHARED TIPS TO HOST THE PERFECT CHRISTMAS

Meghan Markle once revealed the benefits of having a non-traditional Christmas and spending the festive season with friends instead of family.

In an unearthed interview with Grazia, Meghan advised utilising the kitchen if you only have a small table, saying: “If you do not have a proper set-up, use your dining room table or kitchen counter as a buffet.”

The Duchess, 39, said: “Holidays with your friends allows you to break the family traditions and avoid Aunt Julie’s fruit cake!

“Have each of your friends bring a dish or cook together in the kitchen.”

    RECAP – HEIR THIS

The Queen’s Christmas address will try to “raise morale” and “evoke war-time spirit”, according to a royal expert.

Her Majesty, 94, reportedly delayed recording her Christmas speech until after the Government’s Brexit D-Day last week.

The monarch is said to have started writing a “personal and emotional” address, but has yet to finish it.

Royal commentator Phil Dampier told Fabulous: “It will be a very, very important Christmas speech this year, very much along the lines of her earlier broadcast, the ‘we’ll meet again one’.

“Trying to raise morale and encourage people to get through it and evoke a bit of war-time spirit.

“So I’m sure the Christmas address will be along similar lines.”

PRINCE HARRY & MEGHAN SENT CHRISTMAS GIFTS TO NIECE AND NEPHEWS CLAIMS ROYAL EXPERT

The Sussexes have sent their niece and nephews Christmas presents in the psot as they won't be in the UK for the big day, claimed a Royal expert.

Speaking on True Royalty Tv's the Royal Beat Katie Nicholl said: "I think it's no secret that there were great tensions and great difficulties in the relationship.

"There was an unbreakable bond between them and they were so close.

"I don't think they will ever be close the way that they were, but there has been nine months now since Megxit. I think relations are better between them.

"I know they are in touch, they do talk. Harry has sent over a load of Christmas presents for the Cambridge children.

"They will Zoom, they will chat over the holidays.

"There is contact, there is friendly contact. But it's not what it was."

WHAT DID HARRY & MEGHAN SAY IN THEIR PODCAST TRAILER?

Explaining their podcast in a three-minute scripted trailer, Meghan said: “One of the things my husband and I have always talked about is our passion for meeting people and hearing their stories.

“And no matter what the story they usually offer an understanding of where someone else is coming from and, in some way, remind you of a story about yourself.”

Following on from his wife, Harry added: “And that is what this story is all about.

“To bring forward different perspectives and voices that perhaps you haven’t heard before and find our common ground.

“Because when that happens change really is possible.”

    LIVE ON HEIR

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are being tapped up with offers from live agents about touring their new podcast.

Insiders said the pair were now being lined up for the possibility of ticketed events – which would be charged at a premium.

An insider said: “Live agents have been eyeing up Meghan and Harry’s new deal with great interest. They have been inundated with offers about the possibility of touring the podcast when the time is right. The idea would be that the events would be very intimate, with tickets going for a premium.

“All the cash would go to charity at the beginning. Meghan and Harry would record then in front of a small audience. Spotify, who their podcast deal is with, have been investing heavily in the live space in the market and want to start taking podcasts out on the road.

“Meghan and Harry’s is not just hugely high profile but potentially hugely lucrative.”

The Sun’s Dan Wootton agreed saying: “What Meghan wants, Meghan gets as Rob Johnson famously said.”

Dickie added that “Harry’s biggest mistake was leaving the army. He should have never left.”

Talking about the reason Meghan and Harry decided to leave the Royal Family, royal expert Katie Nicholl added: “The real reason for them leaving the Royal Family was to become financially independent.

"I think it was to have latitude, to have space, but ultimately it was to make money and that is what they are doing.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down as senior royals in March, and relocated to California with one-year-old Archie.

MEGHAN & HARRY THOUGHT TO BE SPENDING CHRISTMAS IN LA

It’s thought Meghan and Prince Harry will spend Christmas with Archie in their new home, due to coronavirus restrictions and the pair stepping down as senior royals.

Last year they also chose to spend Archie’s first Christmas with Meghan’s mum, Doria, although they spent the two Christmases prior to that with the Queen at Sandringham.

NOEL GALLAGHER CALLS PRINCE HARRY A ‘MAD LITTLE KID’

Noel Gallagher called Prince Harry a “f***ing do-gooder” and a “mad little kid” in an explosive podcast interview this week.

The former Oasis star added the Royal Family have a “s*** life” while discussing the campaigns launched by Harry and Meghan Markle since stepping back from The Firm.

Saying he’s shocked that anyone “takes them seriously”, he slammed Harry, 36, and Meghan, 39, for their woke efforts to do good.

“Prince Harry – surely no one takes him seriously?” he told The Matt Morgan Podcast. “He’s just a mad little kid.

“I don’t like do-gooders in general, they f***ing wind me up.”
