Sophie, Countess of Wessex, 56, has been part of the Royal Family since her wedding to Prince Edward, also 56, in 1999. In this role, she has carried out engagements on behalf of the monarch.

Before her wedding, Sophie kept a low profile and worked in public relations.

She began working in the Royal Family shortly after her wedding to Prince Edward which means she has stepped out regularly over the years.

While coronavirus restrictions have changed royal appearances in the last year, Sophie has continued to show face with virtual meetings using video links.

The Countess of Wessex has become a key member of the Royal Family in her own right and an expert suggested she has made her growing role apparent.

Speaking to Express.co.uk, buyer at Pure Collection Kate Stacey explained Sophie has been through a style transformation.

“The Countess of Wessex has undergone nothing short of a style transformation in recent years, moving away from pastel hues and unflattering lengths, she has turned to chic, simple dressing,” the expert stated.

Sophie’s may have changed while in the Royal Family to showcase her growing royal role.

When doing this, the mother-of-three may have favoured bold looks to help her “stand out”.

Kate continued: “The Countess of Wessex also appears to have made more bold fashion choices in recent years.

“She has been favouring eye-catching patterns and bold colour combinations.

“Unafraid to experiment with block colours, it seems Sophie is happy to stand out.

“Perhaps this has been intentional and mirrors how her role in the Royal Family is changing.”

Sophie is thought to have stepped up in the Royal Family and taken on more responsibilities in recent years.

As her style has changed, the expert suggested she may have looked around her for inspiration.

She stated the mother-of-three could have taken style tips from other royals including Kate Middleton.

Kate continued: “Perhaps taking her inspiration from The Duchess of Cambridge, she has embraced flattering silhouettes given by structured coats and figure-hugging long dresses.

“She has been expertly matching these looks with colour coordinated heels.”

Like Sophie, the Duchess of Cambridge appears to have developed her style while in the Royal Family.

The expert continued: “Kate now embraces an impeccably elegant way of dressing.

“This is simple, it consists of well-cut jumpers in premium fabrics and denim for more casual duties. Kate is fond of championing British brands and she chooses well.”
