Supermarket deliveries can be great for those who are short on time or are isolating due to coronavirus guidance. Tesco has increased delivery slots over the last year.

This has allowed more people to take advantage of the convenient service.

With a high number of Britons being pinged by the NHS Track and Trace app, many are currently self-isolating.

This makes supermarket deliveries a necessity for such customers.

Tesco has shared an update on the service and commented on those who are self-isolating.

It requested those self-isolating make drivers aware so they can keep a safe distance.

A message from Tesco UK CEO Jason Tarry stated: “If you’re shopping online, our colleagues are happy to keep a safe distance when they deliver your shopping and they will always do so if you’re self-isolating.

“If that’s the case, please tell your driver or let us know in the delivery notes.

“All our drivers will continue to sanitise their hands and equipment regularly too.”

The retailer confirmed all drivers maintain high safety standards.

Supermarket deliveries have been vital for vulnerable shoppers during the pandemic.

Anyone who is unable to visit supermarkets for safety reasons will continue to have priority slots, Mr Tarry continued.

Drivers are also able to help bring shopping into their homes.

He said: “We continue to offer priority slots for vulnerable customers.

“And if you’re vulnerable, disabled or elderly, you can also ask our drivers to carry your shopping into your home for you, as long as you aren’t self-isolating.

“We’re really grateful for your support and everything you’ve been doing to help keep our colleagues and other customers safe.

“Our colleagues are here to help and are still working very hard in difficult circumstances, so please continue to be kind, patient and respectful.”

Shopping rules have changed this week as face coverings are no longer legally required.

However, many supermarket chains urge customers to continue to wear masks if possible.

Tesco has also announced priority shopping hours for those who need it.

“We’re continuing to set time aside for customers who need or want a quieter shopping experience, to make sure that everyone can shop safely,” the statement continued.

“Please check our store locator for your local store’s hours.”

The exact priority hours will vary between stores.

However, many branches will offer this service on Wednesdays between 9am and 10am.
