Fitness influencer shamed for wearing sports bra in supermarket – but hits back
A fitness influencer sparked backlash after she posted a video of wearing a "crop top" in a supermarket.
Certified personal trainer Sophie Allen, from Australia, said she received "disapproving looks" from the shoppers when she walked into her local grocery shop in her gym outfit.
Sharing her experience to her fans on TikTok, she said: "The hate you get being a female wearing a crop top in the supermarket just hits different."
Sophie films herself walking into the frame, facing against the camera while looking for spreads on the shelf.
She wears purple leggings and a matching sports bra while carrying a gym bag and a shopping basket.
The 31-year-old, who runs a fitness programme online, said she felt "frustrated" that women have to present in a way to be deemed "acceptable" by society.
She told news.com.au: "It happens anytime I go into a supermarket after a training session in my crop.
"It's so disappointing that in 2022 women are still being judged for their choice in clothing."
Her video went viral and many viewers took to her account and picked fault with her experience.
One said: "It's like wearing a bathing suit to the movies. The outfit just doesn't match the location."
Another pointed out: "That's not a crop top though, it's a sports bra. That's like a guy walking in the store saying the hate you get for wearing just briefs in a store."

"Why would you wear a sweaty top to supermarket? That's just gross," a third added.
But her fans defended Sophie, with one calling the haters being "jealous".
"I do this and I don't care about the world because main character energy!" one said and a second chimed in: "Yes I feel so uncomfortable too, but at the same time, what can I do?
"if I have to do groceries after the gym I won't change just for it."
