From gherkins to Lucozade — cure your hangover on the cheap with our top tips

WE’VE finally seen the back of 2020 but, if you’re anything like me, you’re probably feeling a little ‘tender’ today.

New Year’s Eve certainly went off with a bang in my household — thankfully without the expensive pub tickets.

But it all still adds up. So here’s how to get your hangover cure for a lot less. . .

Milky way: Did you know that doctors actually suggest a milkshake as being a top hangover cure? If, like me, you’re a chocolate fan, head to Morrisons where you can currently nab a litre of chocolate milk for £1 — far cheaper than branded Shaken Udder Chocolush Milkshake, £1.40 for 330ml at Sainsbury’s.

SAVE: 40p plus more than double the amount

A sporting chance: A bottle of Lucozade is my go-to after a night on the gin — and I know some of you swear by it too. But a single bottle these days can set you back £1 a time.

One is never enough for me, so I head to Tesco, where I can get six bottles of orange Lucozade for £2.50, working out at just 41p a bottle – usually £6 when buying singles. And a bonus is you’re stocked up for your next wild night in.

SAVE: £3.50 when bulk buying six

In a pickle?: I love a pickle, but while swigging gherkin brine to cure that fuzzy feeling may sound gag-worthy, many swear by it as the ultimate hangover cure.

If you fancy giving it a try (let’s face it, during a hangover anything is worth a shot), head to Aldi and nab their pickled gherkins for 75p, instead of much-loved brand Mrs Elswood, now £1.70 at Asda.

SAVE: 95p

Save pounds on pills: We’ve all needed something to take away the headache at times. But top-branded medicine is often the same as the pharmacy’s own range, with the main difference being the price. Just check the list of ingredients on the back of the box.

Pick up the own-brand 16 paracetamol tablets at Asda for just 29p — instead of £1.69 for 16 Panadol tablets at Boots.

SAVE: £1.40
