I'm in love with a boy at school – will he notice me if I'm a maths whizz?
DEAR DEIDRE: I’M in love with a boy in my school year, but I can’t get to know him unless I do better at maths as he’s in the higher set.
I’m 15, he’s 16 and I can’t stop thinking about him.
He’s so gorgeous and I’m sure we have a special connection.

If I work really hard – or even get some after-school tuition – so I get better results and move into his class, do you think he will notice me?
DEIDRE SAYS: It is great that you want to do better at maths, but trying to impress a boy is not the best reason. You should want to do well for yourself.
I can’t promise he’ll notice you or feel the same way, even if you are in class with him.
It’s best to try becoming his friend first.
