Kevin Love Gives a Tour of His Contemporary Tribeca Home

NBA star, Kevin Love joins the ranks of other notable celebrities as the latest member to give a tour of his home for the Architectural Digest Open Door video series. In this episode, he reveals that since he was 18 years old, he has dreamt of owning a home in New York by the time he was 30. It was three months before his 30th that he closed on this Tribeca apartment, where he now spends most of his time during the off-season.

Throughout the apartment Love emphasizes the use of wood, from the reclaimed oak flooring to the exposed beams, to create an inviting environment for the home. At the helm of the designing is Kerry Varnum of Grey Designs, whom he had worked with on his Cleveland home. As he begins the tour in the living room, Love’s intermixing of the classic Tribeca with the American West is immediately evident in the set of Ralph Lauren Home CF1 lounge chairs upholstered in RLH’s Telluride Earth fabric. At the corner of the room is arguably one of his most prized possessions in the apartment – a McIntosh record player. He attributes the importance of music in his life to his legendary uncle, Mike Love, and cousins, Brian and Carl Wilson, founding members of The Beach Boys and ensures that their musical presence is incorporated in his home.

Love’s personal art collection can be seen throughout the home and includes an Antony Gormley sculpture as a centerpiece in his dining room. The tour continues into his office where his favorite art piece, Untitled Anxious Audience by Rashid Johnson hangs prominently behind his custom-made walnut and soapstone desk. Love continues to show off his relaxing reading corner, kitchen, and most importantly, his coveted wine fridge. This video features many personal and design stories that have helped Love create his home-away-from-home in New York.
