Recently, I saw another more challenging job advertised. It had a higher salary – about £200 extra per month – but involved more responsibility, longer hours and some travel.

I had the interview and have been offered the job. But now I don’t know if I should take it.

I feel disloyal to my current employer who has treated me really well, even giving me a bonus for extra work.

My friends think I’d be crazy not to take the job. I have a young family to think of too. I feel I’m at a crossroads.

DEIDRE SAYS: Change can be scary. There are pros and cons to both jobs and you won’t know for sure that you’ve made the right decision unless you try the new job.

But think about what motivated you to apply. Some part of you must have wanted a new challenge.

Try not to let your nerves make you think negatively.
