Why Kate Middleton has ditched the Royal Families clever trick of handbags

Kate Middleton continuously proves that she is a force when it comes to fashion as she is constantly pulling off incredible looks, one after the other.

Often seen to use her style to communicate messages or pay tribute to the event she is attending, for example on Tuesday when Kate paid tribute to The Imperial War Museum with a navy inspired blouse, there is nothing that The Duchess of Cambridge can't pull off.

During her 2021 appearances, we have noticed one key accessory missing from her ensembles, one of which the Royal Family are known for and that is their handbags.

One reason for which this could be is that it is considered that handbags are used so that the lady's have something to do with their hands when standing talking to someone.

Speaking to Daily Mail's FEMAIL, Celebrity Stylist Hannah Eichler said: "Accessories have often been a clever trick for royals, as a means of busying nervous hands.

"Now that Kate has been a pivotal part of the Royal family for over a decade, she no longer needs tricks to drawing attention away from shaking hands, and instead is at ease with public speaking."

"The Duchess of Cambridge’s collection of luxe handbags have received the fashion approval of even the most discerning designer bag experts, but the eagle eyes among you will note Kate has ditched the look of late."

"With her new found confidence in public speaking and engaging with members of the public comes a genuine desire to appear more genuine."

"Hands are considered the emotional barometer, and therefore using her hands to express her feelings allows Kate to connect more to those who she is speaking."

The mum-of-three uses her fashion just as Princess Diana once did, in terms of either recycling old outfits such as her £16 monochrome dress from Zara or championing more known labels which the public can also shop for.

Kate has become to be known as the queen of coats, which is another reason we rarely see her with a handbag in the winter as she specifically chooses designs which come with inside or patch pockets so she can pop her essentials in them and no one would know.

On Wednesday we saw The Duchess stun the public as she paid a special appearance to The Imperial War Museum to open two new galleries.

Of course Kate dressed up for the occasion and gave a subtle nod to the navy history of the Museum as she recycled an Alexander McQueen black and white blouse which she originally wore in 2011.

This was paired with navy cigarette trousers and a custom made navy wool long line coat from Catherine Walker and matching court heels.

The effortless ensemble was finished off with Princess Diana's Sapphire earrings.
