Arsenal keen on Victor Osimhen transfer with £60m Napoli striker seen as Aubameyang replacement while Newcastle circle

ARSENAL are eager to sign Victor Osimhen but will have to compete with Newcastle to do so, reports claim.

The Gunners are desperate to sign a striker before next season.

Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are set to be out of contract at the end of the season.

While Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is destined to depart after being exiled by boss Mikel Arteta.

The Gunners appear to have been snubbed by Fiorentina's rising star Dusan Vlahovic.

But Napoli ace Osimhen is also on their radar.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Arsenal could make a £60million summer swoop for the Nigerian.

In order to seal his signature, however, they will have to beat off interest from Newcastle.

Why are there no Premier League games on this weekend and when does it return?

The Saudi-backed Toon aren't short of cash to spend on top talent.

But attracting Osimhen, 23, to join a team that is currently in a relegation dogfight will be a challenge.

Napoli are chasing a top four spot in Serie A and would be very unlikely to sell their star striker this month.

But a summer transfer is entirely possible.

Osimhen is currently on the comeback trail after suffering facial fractures against Inter Milan.

While he has also had to twice battle back from bouts with Covid-19.

When he has managed to take to the field this season, Osimhen has been prolific.

The former Lille ace has bagged nine goals in 16 outings for Napoli this term.
