Eddie Hearn makes incredible U-turn after comments about KSI and Logan Paul’s first fight – The Sun

EDDIE Hearn is promoting the long-awaited rematch between YouTube stars KSI and Logan Paul, but he had quite a different view on the fight a year ago.

The pair are set to fight in November at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

The last fight at the Manchester Arena in August of last year ended in a draw and was watched online by over one million people.

Last year Hearn said: "I'm too much of a boxing enthusiast to think… I've been pitched loads of celebrity fights. I love a pound note but it's not really in my heart.

"I know people think I'm just a w**** but I don't think I could stand up there and sell, and be a part of that."

Those quotes are now returning to haunt him after he announced he will promote the rematch.

Hearn however admits he has completely changed his mind.

The promoter said: "Thirteen months ago when the first fight took place I smirked and pondered how embarrassing it would be to stage this event in a 20,000 seater arena.

"What I saw was a phenomenon; a sold out arena, over one million PPV buys but more importantly an energy of a new audience to the sport of boxing.

KSI will rematch Logan Paul in LA with the pair turning pro

"When I was asked to be involved in the rematch it got me excited but I had some requests to help integrate the two audiences.

"I requested that both fighters turn professional and undergo the same medicals that any other fighter would.

"I asked that the fighters lose the headguards and use 10oz gloves, if we are going to do this then let’s do it properly."

The rematch between Briton KSI and American Logan Paul will see the pair of them turn professional meaning they won't be wearing head guards, unlike the first fight.

The fight will take place over six rounds lasting three minutes with a world title defence by Billy Joe Saunders on the undercard.

The first fight sold 1.4m PPV’s on YouTube as they boxed over six-three minute rounds with the rivals' brothers also fighting.

However, sports streaming service DAZN will televise the rematch in the US – with a UK broadcaster yet to be revealed.
