Kevin Durant’s mother puts son’s critics on blast with passionate message following injury
The Real MVP has arrived.
Wanda Durant, the mother of two-time NBA Finals MVP Kevin Durant, posted a passionate message on Twitter early Tuesday morning calling out her son's critics.
She tweeted: "For ALL of you who question my son as a Man, question his Heart, question his Integrity and question his LOVE for the game of basketball, you DON’T know him. He has a heart of a true Warrior! This too shall pass. God Bless you ALL."
Durant returned for the first time in a month in the Golden State Warriors' Game 5 win over the Toronto Raptors on Monday night to keep their three-peat title hopes alive. But Durant's impactful return — 11 points in 12 minutes — was short-lived as the superstar suffered a devastating leg injury and was helped off the court.

The image of Durant grimacing in pain after giving his all to help the Warriors withstand elimination proved to be an image of grit and sacrifice that drew admiration from fans and fellow athletes alike.
But Wanda Durant had a message for any remaining doubters who questioned Durant's commitment to his teammates (with free agency looming) or his desire to win and be a champion.
Durant's relationship with his mother has always been at the forefront of his career, and her message Tuesday called back Durant's moving 2014 MVP speech with the Oklahoma City Thunder. There, a tearful Durant credited his mother as "the real MVP" for all she sacrificed to get him to that stage.
