    The Carabao Cup claimed saw early scalps in the Premier League.

    Prehaps most notably Brentford lost to League Two side Gillingham despite the return of Ivan Toney to the starting xi.

    That game also saw the game delayed from its original slot of 7:45pm to 8:05pm after Gillingham were delayed on their journey up to the Brentford Community Stadium.

    Elsewhere, Everton were on the end of a 4-1 thrashing by Bournemouth.

    On the other hand, Leicester progressed past Newport without a hitch.
