    STAND UP FOR THE BLUES

Chelsea have followed in Manchester United's footsteps by installing rail seating at Stamford Bridge, writes WILLIAM PUGH.

The Blues have acted in preparation for Premier League safe standing by upgrading both the Matthew Harding and the Shed ends.

The Blues announced on Monday: "Rail seating has been installed in the Matthew Harding lower and Shed End upper and lower tiers.

"This improvement enhances supporter safety by replacing the current seats in those sections of the stadium.

"We have decided to act now in order to be ready and prepared for any future government decision to introduce safe standing in Premier League stadia."

Pictures emerged in June of the Bridge with large sections of their famous blue seats stripped out.

And they have been completed in time for their Premier League opener at home to Crystal Palace on August 14.

Blues season ticket holders were able to relocate to seating areas only if they wished.

Rail seating provides a waist-high metal frame which interlocks behind each seat which fans will stand behind.

Man Utd started construction of their own rail seating section in June.

SunSport previously reported the Red Devils were given special permission in April last year to become the first Premier League club to trial the new area.

    TOP 10

Manchester United are reportedly hoping to sell 10 players this month to fund moves for Atletico Madrid star Kieran Trippier and Rennes ace Eduardo Camavinga.

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to assemble a squad capable of challenging for the Premier League title after back-to-back top-four finishes.

According to ESPN, the Red Devils are looking to recoup £100million, with Jesse Lingard, Anthony Martial, Phil Jones and Diogo Dalot up for sale.

Andreas Pereira, Daniel James, Alex Telles, Axel Tuanzebe and Brandon Williams are also believed to have been deemed as surplus to requirements.

And the Manchester giants are also said to be prepared to cash in on Paul Pogba, who has just a year left to run on his contract

A statement from the club read that Henderson is still recovering from "prolonged fatigue" after contracting coronavirus.

    JESS DO IT

Liverpool ace Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been advised to follow in Manchester United player Jesse Lingard's footsteps and seek a loan deal away in order to find himself.

That is according to former Reds star Glenn Johnson, who believes West Ham would have been a great prospect for Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Johnson told BettingOdds.com: "Yes. Possibly. West Ham’s a fantastic football club and they will let Alex enjoy his football.

“Hopefully his body can get through all of next season. But I think West Ham United and Oxlade-Chamberlain would be a perfect fit.

“Moyes would take the shackles off him, let him go and enjoy himself, and see what he can do. Touch wood Alex can stay fit and get back to his best”

    HENDERSON ABSENCE

    ELANGA IDEA

Anthony Elanga has what it takes to cover Manchester United's left wing, according to former player Ben Thornley.

Thornley said: “He could be a candidate for the left-hand side.

"He's definitely laid down a marker, that's for sure. We were talking about Mason [Greenwood], Paul Pogba and Dan [James] but, if he keeps performing like that, it will be hard for the manager to ignore, especially if he does play and scores goals. That's priceless.

“I just think he's a lad who has come through the Under-23s, when we watched him last season. He's got explosive pace, always wants to play on the shoulder and can play either side as well as through the middle.

"If he gets away, you're never going to catch him. He's got great feet and is brave; you saw that with the goal he scored at Wolves with his head.

“There is going to be a lot of talk among the coaching staff about which players are part of the squad, maybe go on loan or are not going to be here come the end of August.

"He's one that caught my eye massively last season as well and he seems a very level-headed young man. If he keeps it up, he can be a huge part of Ole's plans this season and rightly so, so far”

    GREAL BOOST

Manchester City’s hopes of signing Tottenham star Harry Kane this summer will end with the arrival of Jack Grealish.

City submitted a £100million offer for Grealish and look ready to finalise their first major signing of the summer.

According to Manchester Evening News, however, a move for Kane will no longer be financially viable if the Aston Villa star joins.

That is unless the Citizens sell a number of players in the summer transfer window.

The Spurs superstar is valued ain excess of £100m by the north Londoners, who do not want to sell their striker.

However, the 28-year-old didn’t show up for training today and that could change everything.

Manchester United have also been keeping tabs on Kane ever since he expressed his desire to leave Tottenham

    SHORE THING

Former Manchester United academy coach Clayton Blackmore believes Shola Shoretire is the Red Devils' most exciting youngster.

Blackmore told Manchester Evening News: "I think at the minute there's only Shola Shoretire who could play a part.

"He's been in around the first team already and played, so when you're looking at players now he'd be the one to look out for.

"With the lads coming through I think you know early on watching them how far they'll go, certainly the players there when I was a coach we predicted where they would end up"

    NEVER SAY NEVES

Manchester United target Ruben Neves has spoken to Wolves TV on new manager Bruno Lage.

Neves has been linked with a move to United with Paul Pogba's future up in the air, but it seems the star midfielder is happy to stay at Molineux.

The Portugal international said: "He’s a very good coach. I am really happy to work with him.

"I spoke with a few friends when he signed for Wolves – that were players in Benfica and are good friends of mine – and they said a lot of good things about him.

    HAALAND EXCLUSIVE

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's new contract could put Manchester United in pole position to sign Borussia Dortmund superstar Erling Haaland next year, reports SunSport's Phil Thomas.

United narrowly missed out on Haaland when he left Red Bull Salzburg for Dortmund 18 months ago.

The 21-year-old has a close relationship with his fellow countryman and was unwilling to take the chance on moving to Old Trafford if the manager was about to be sacked.

Both the star striker and his father, former Manchester City star Alf-Inge, admitted they did not want to risk working under a boss they had no vibe for if Solskjaer was axed.

The United boss gave the Norway international his debut as a teenager at Molde.

And now that his own long-term future has been secured after signing a new three-year contract last week, the Red Devils' top brass hope that will leave them as favourites to sign Haaland next summer
