Batman fans swoon over Robert Pattinson’s jawline in new Dark Knight costume

Former Twilight star Robert Pattinson has been unveiled in costume as Batman for the first time.

The 33-year-old British actor is set to take over the role of the Caped Crusader following the departure of Ben Affleck from the role.

Now director Matt Reeves has shared a screen-test video of Pattinson in costume for the upcoming film The Batman.

With a moody score from composer Michael Giacchino and shot by Greig Fraser, we see red-lit close-ups of the new Batman costume, showing off some armour-like leather and adorned with a Bat symbol that looks like a sawn-in-half gun – perhaps the one used to kill Bruce Wayne's parents?

We also get a close side-view of Pattinson in the Batman mask, with his sharp jawline matching its cut.

Naturally, the new footage has caused a stir on social media as everyone shared their reactions.

One fan took to Twitter and wrote: "CAN WE MAGICALLY MAKE IT 2021"

Another noted: "I'm a big fan of the wider opening in the mask for his jaw, & I like the way the cowl looks like it's made of pieces of thick leather. I also appreciate the way the suit has accessories built directly into it as well as the armoring. I can't wait for #TheBatman!"

"Happy Valentine's Day!," wrote another.

Elsewhere, one wrote: "I think the cowl is what makes me really like this. The narrow openings in the other movies always bothered me. Let the strong jawline show (though bale had no jawline)."
