Coronation Street star Andy Whyment has reportedly signed a six-figure deal to remain on the hit ITV soap as Kirk Sutherland for another 12 months.
The actor, 40, is said to have told executives that he would "sign for life" if they would let him as he "never wants to go anywhere else".
It comes after Andy celebrated 20 years on the cobbles in October saying that it had been an "absolute honour".
A source told The Sun: "Andy just loves Corrie. It is in his blood and he never wants to go anywhere else.
"Lots of other actors get itchy feet and want to go on to do other stuff and some think they want to star in 'higher quality' telly.
"But for Andrew, there is no higher-quality telly. It’s the nation’s favourite soap – a national institution that’s been on the box for 60 years, so why would he want to go anywhere else? He told the execs he’d sign for life if they’d let him!"
OK! has contacted Coronation Street for comment.
It comes after Andy celebrated 20 years on the cobbles in October saying that it had been an "absolute honour" and he hopes to play Kirk for "many more years".
Posting a picture of himself outside the Rovers Return Inn, he penned: "It’s been 20 years to the day since my first ever episode as Kirk on @coronationstreet.
'It’s been an absolute honour to be a part of this incredible show that I’ve been a fan of from being a kid for so many years.
'I love playing Kirk and hope to do so for many more years #corriefamily.'
Away from the cobbles, Andy has been with his wife Nichola (née Willis) since they met in Manchester in 2004, with the actor previously telling Digital Spy the pair "really hit it off."
The couple tied the knot in 2007 after three years together, and celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary in 2017.
Andy opened up about their marriage to celebrate the milestone to OK! at the time.
He said: "She’s gorgeous! I’m a very lucky bloke. We’ve been together 14 years and we just don’t argue. We get on so well.
"I fancied Nic for some time but nothing happened. Then we copped off one night and it wasn’t too long before I realised she was the one I wanted to be with.
"I said in my wedding speech you just know when you meet the one, and that's true."
