Sonia Fowler (played by Natalie Cassidy) was gobsmacked when her long lost father Terry Cant (Brian Conley) turned up in EastEnders. The BBC soap stalwart never knew her dad growing up but has been slowly getting to know him in recent weeks. However, will their budding relationship lead to the return of Sonia’s mother Carol Jackson (Lindsey Coulson) and daughter Bex Fowler (Jasmine Armfield)?

In tonight’s EastEnders, which has been available to watch on BBC iPlayer since Monday, Terry tried to show off his salesman skills.

After observing Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) on his stall, Terry decided to prove that he could do a better job.

As they fought over prospective customers, Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) watched from outside her cafe.

“I don’t do the hard sell,” Billy protested while Terry argued: “It’s not about selling the stuff, it’s about selling yourself.”

Bumping into Kathy in the market, Sonia asked: “What’s all this?”

“Your dad’s showing Billy how it’s done,” the cafe owner replied.

“He’s certainly got the gift of the gab, he’s managed to wear you down,” Sonia quipped.

But Kathy pointed out Terry had managed to “wear down” Sonia too.

“Yeah, I can’t wait for Bex to meet him now,” Sonia said. “Although I do have to tell mum he’s back first.”

“Good luck with that one,” Kathy replied before noting Billy and Terry’s challenge was almost over.

Could this be a hint that both Bex and Carol will return to Walford in the not-so-distant future?

Sonia didn’t know her father growing up and little was ever known about him until Terry turned up earlier this year.

Carol moved to Walford in 1993 with her children Bianca Jackson (Patsy Kensit), Robbie Jackson (Dean Gaffney), Sonia and Billie Jackson (Devon Anderson).

She arrived with her partner and Billie’s Alan Jackson (Howard Antony) but there was little mention of Sonia’s father until she attempted to track him down last year.

Carol made no effort to help Sonia find her father and the nurse has kept his arrival secret so far.

However, if Carol learns he’s in Walford, she may return to suss out whether she feels their daughter can trust him.

Meanwhile, Bex decided to go travelling in 2020 and departed Walford after eventually getting her mum’s blessing.

Although Sonia wasn’t entirely happy with her daughter’s plans, the pair has seen bonded again.

At the beginning of the year, the nurse took some time off and flew over to India to visit Bex.

Will the news of Terry’s arrival lead to Bex coming home and meeting him?

After a long hiatus, EastEnders fans are desperate for Carol to return as one tweeted: “Bring back Carol Jackson #EastEnders.”

“An #EastEnders Carol Jackson return needs to happen. Even if it’s only for a few episodes,” another wrote.

“Bring back Carol and Bianca right now #Eastenders,” someone else shared.

EastEnders continues on BBC One on Monday at 8.05pm.
