Emmerdale spoilers tease Robert return as Luke makes Lee murder revelation

Emmerdale favourite Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) could be set to make a sensational return to the ITV soap.

The popular character was sentenced to life in prison for murder in October 2019 but a major twist is set to emerge.

He is currently doing time behind bars for killing his sister Victoria Sugden's (Isabel Hodgins) rapist Lee Posner.

Lee's mother Wendy and brother Luke have since moved to the village and Luke began a relationship with Victoria in a shocking soap twist.

Wendy pleaded with Luke to be honest in recent scenes as he relived his fight with his late brother.

It was later revealed that Lee was actually knocked unconscious during the struggle with Luke, which happened before Robert killed him with a punch.

Wendy urged Luke to not let the past keep him from finding happiness and pleaded him to tell Victoria what he'd just told her.

He ordered his mother to keep his dark secret or she'll lose another soon.

Emmerdale spoilers have revealed that a conversation with Victoria affirms Wendy’s desire to try and reunite her with her jailed brother Robert.

Ethan Anderson is intrigued when Wendy asks for his help with something important and she later begs him to find out if the information could help Robert.

Luke soon realises he might have helped kill his brother and Wendy starts to regret opening the painful can of worms.

Meanwhile, Luke’s determined to see things through with Victoria but Wendy tries to make Luke see he needs to be honest with Victoria about everything. But will he?

Luke first met Victoria at Hotten General Hospital while she was working as a cafeteria worker.

The pair went on a couple of dates but Victoria was left horrified after discovering he was the brother of her rapist, Lee.

Initially, Victoria believed that Wendy had engineered their meeting, but Luke was desperate to prove that he was truly oblivious as to who she was.

He left her even more stunned at the time by revealing that he believed her accusations against Lee, unlike his mother.

Wendy went on to move to Emmerdale in order to be closer to her unborn grandson, but Luke tried to persuade her it was a bad idea.

Will Luke's secret ruin his flourishing romance with Victoria and what does the new information mean for Robert's future?

Emmerdale's Isobel Steel, who plays Liv Flaherty, recently admitted that she'd like actor Ryan Hawley to return as Robert Sugden.

Ryan was the most recent actor to portray Robert with him playing the role for five years before he left in 2019.

"He’s just had a baby," Isobel told Yorkshire Live.

"So, I don’t know how soon he’d be coming back – fingers crossed, though."

Fans will have to wait and see if a Robert will return to the village and reunite with Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller).

Emmerdale airs weekdays on ITV at 7pm
