Hollyoaks fans confused as they spot huge blunder amid explosion

Hollyoaks fans were left shocked on Wednesday night when the soap's special episode ended in a dramatic cliffhanger.

A dramatic explosion in Salon du Thé claimed the life of Sylver McQueen, who risked his life in order to save his stepson Bobby, only to be repaid by the youngster leaving him in the wreckage of the blast to die.

While Sylver's death was confirmed, two other characters' fates hang in the balance. Both Celeste Faroe and and her brother Toby – who had just confessed to killing Lisa – were in the building when the blast went off, and it remains to be seen whether they'll survive.

Meanwhile, Juliet Nightingale is fighting for her life in hospital.

And while fans were enthralled by the dramatic scenes last night, many took to Twitter to ask the same question.

Fans were confused as to why the characters who witnessed the explosions decided to ring for an ambulance, despite the fact the cafe is located next to a hospital.

One fan wrote on Twitter: "Are you f***ing kidding me? Felix phoning for an ambulance when he's STANDING IN FRONT OF A HOSPITAL! He wouldn't even need to go inside to alert them: THE HOSPITAL IS NEXT TO THE CAFE!!!"

Another wrote: "wait, isn't the hospital next to the salon? Where's the ambulance?"

One fan questioned: "You telling me this explosion happened right next to the hospital and absolutely no-one medically on site yet?"

While another wrote: "Phone for an ambulance? It's right next door to a bloody hospital," followed by a crying with laughter emoji.

Over the next few episodes, fans will be hoping we'll find out more about little Bobby's decision not to get help for his stepdad – could he be following in the footsteps of his granddad Silas, a known killer?

Elsewhere, we're waiting to hear the fate of Toby and Celeste – things weren't looking great for the pair as debris from the explosion rained down on them in last night's show.

And will Juliet survive? If she does, will she accept Peri's proposal?

One things for sure, Hollyoaks fans are in for a week of drama.
