Is Meghan McCain Leaving 'The View'? She Feels Like A 'Caged Animal'
Meghan McCain might be leaving ABC’s daytime talk show, The View, after years of battling with her co-hosts, Sunny Hostin and Joy Behar. Inside sources claim that McCain, who has served as the conservative voice on the panel, is fed up with the show and is not interested in renewing her contract for another season. The news comes as ABC is ramping up for The View’s 23rd season, which premieres this September.
Is Meghan McCain leaving The View?
Sources claim McCain, whose father was war hero and senator from Arizona, John McCain, is completely drained after only two years on The View. Despite making just under a million dollars every season, McCain reportedly feels isolated and is extremely angry about how her co-stars treat her on the set. One source even says that McCain feels similar to a “caged animal,” which does not bode well for her future on the show.
One of the biggest problems for McCain is all the backlash she receives over her political views. According to The Daily Beast, McCain obsesses over how fans react to her segments on social media and is often exhausted by the end of each week.

Happy Independence Day! Who’s afraid of “Big Bad John McCain”?! Thank you @votevets & @ragsofhonor.us (who provide employment and services to homeless veterans) for this tee shirt. Couldn’t figure out what to wear today and this is perfect. Anyone who wants one – they will be handing these babies out at Trump’s 4th of July celebration here in DC! ??????⭐️⭐️⭐️???
At the end of the day, Meghan McCain does not think being on the show outweighs the downsides and is looking for another place to work.
“It’s getting to the point where it’s not worth theemotional toll every week,” a source revealed. “If she doesn’t stayat The View, she will find other work.”
ABC opens up about McCain
McCain has not commented on the rumors surrounding her future on The View. She is still mourning the death of her father, who passed away last summer after a long battle with brain cancer. The conservative talk show host has reportedly undergone therapy to help deal with the family death and is not taking interviews outside of The View.
Despite all of the controversies surrounding Meghan McCain, theshow’s executive producer, Hilary Estey McLoughlin, recently opened up aboutthe new season and whether or not McCain will be back.
McLoughlin noted that everyone is happy with McCain and that theydo not like seeing fans attack her on social media. McLoughlin also revealedthat she thinks McCain enjoys being on the show and understands that it givesher a platform like nothing else. Although McCain has not announced her futureplans, McLoughlin is confident that she will return for Season 23 later thisyear.
The producer did, however, admit that McCain often gets drainedbecause she feels the need to constantly represent a conservative viewpoint onthe show. While this is something very important to McCain, it is clearlytaking its toll.
Rosie O’Donnell weighs in on the Meghan McCain controversy
Amid all the talk of a departure, Rosie O’Donnell recently sharedher thoughts on how things are progressing on The View. The comedian, whowas a co-host on The View for two years, stated that McCain is in atough spot on the show.
O’Donnell has known McCain since she was a young girl and workedwith her father on the Wounded Warrior Project. For O’Donnell, McCain’s griefover her father’s passing is why she has been struggling so much lately.O’Donnell explained how the McCains are a very tight-knit family and watchinghim suffer for years was difficult for everyone involved.
Although O’Donnell has a soft spot for Meghan McCain, she doeswish she would treat Joy Behar a little better. O’Donnell explained howeveryone on the panel should have a measure of respect for Behar just becauseshe is practically a living legend. The comments come shortly after McCainreferred to Behar as a “b**ch” on the show.
McCain slams Donald Trump Jr.
McCain may serve as the conservative voice on The View, but she does not always fall in line with her party. Trump Jr. found himself in hot water after he commented on a storyabout how Harris has Jamaican and Indian ancestors and is therefore not black.
She is a frequent critic of the Trump administration, somethingshe shared in common with her late father.
