Lucy Mecklenburgh's horror as son Roman catches chicken pox just weeks after hospital dash – and postpones nursery start

LUCY Mecklenburgh has revealed her son Roman has now caught chicken pox  – just weeks after his stay in intensive care.

The 30-year-old, who had previously said her “nerves can’t take any more”, gave fans an update on her 18-month-old’s wellbeing and revealed she had delayed him starting nursery until he was back to full health.

When asked how the toddler was during an Instagram Q&A, she revealed: “He’s really good but now has chicken pox.

“They’re everywhere but quite mild and not bothering him too much though. He’s a tough little boy.”

Roman was rushed to hospital earlier this month after his terrified mum found him lying blue in his cot in the middle of the night.

Lucy and dad Ryan Thomas described the situation as every parent’s “worst nightmare” and revealed it was down to a “viral induced wheeze”.

The couple have now decided to delay his nursery start for a while, with Lucy telling a fan: “I wanted him to start now but with his viral induced wheeze being as severe as it is I’m going to wait until spring now.

“I know I can’t wrap him in cotton wool forever but he’s been through so much I want him fully recovered and not catching every bug constantly at nursery and risking lots of hospital visits for him.”

Roman now takes an inhaler twice a day after spending a week in intensive care.

He was found blue, floppy and unconscious with sick in his mouth and was rushed to hospital.
