Maya Jama lined up for Channel 4's Big Breakfast reboot alongside Mo Gilligan and Clara Amfo
EVERYBODY wants a piece of Maya Jama, who is quickly becoming telly’s hottest property.
Channel 4 is the latest to add its two cents’ worth, after putting the former Radio 1 DJ at the top of its wish list for a Big Breakfast reboot.
The network is reprising the Nineties classic for its Black To Front day, in which it will broadcast only programmes created and fronted by black talent.
Comic Mo Gilligan is overseeing the two-hour special but insiders say Maya is tipped for a starring role.
A source said: “Maya would be the perfect fit to feature on the Big Breakfast reboot and Channel 4 has her firmly in its sights.
“She is on its wish list of black female talent, along with Strictly star and broadcaster Clara Amfo.
“Maya is incredibly busy but Channel 4 is hoping she’ll be able to make room in her diary to be a part of the show, which bosses think is going to be a roaring success when it airs on September 10.”
Maya is currently on holiday in America with her boyfriend, NBA basketball star Ben Simmons.
She shared a snap of her with the Aussie sportsman on Instagram yesterday and looked as though she was relishing every second of her time away from work.
And Maya certainly should make the most of her break, as Channel 4 isn’t the only broadcaster keen to book her.
Following her success on the box alongside Peter Crouch on his BBC One series Crouchy’s Year-Late Euros show, BBC bosses are trying to secure her for footie’s World Cup coverage next year.
Buckle up, Maya. You’re in for an exciting ride.
