New ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and ‘Station 19’ Spring Premiere Promo Trailer Has Fans Worried About Death in the Next Crossover
ABC just dropped the promo trailer for the Grey’s Anatomy Season 17 and Station 19 Season 4 spring premiere, and many fans are already worried about another death in the new crossover. Here’s a breakdown of the preview and what to expect when the Shondaland shows come back in March 2021.
What happened in the last ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and ‘Station 19’ crossover?
The Grey’s Anatomy Season 17 and Station 19 Season 4 fall finales served as the last crossover. To kick off the two-hour event, a few off-duty firefighters from Station 19 helped a Back mother save her teenage daughter and her friend. A man kidnapped the two girls. But law enforcement refused to step in. However, the police arrived when the kidnapper claimed the mother was disturbing the peace.
Meanwhile, the kidnapper claimed that he was the victim of arson and a break-in, and the officers blatantly chose his side. In the end, the police arrested the mother. Then when the Station 19 crew tried to defend her, the officers also arrested Robert Sullivan (Boris Kodjoe) and Dean Miller (Okieriete Onaodowan).
Now, Station 19 fans must wait and see what happens to Sullivan and Miller in the spring premiere. But, the story continued on Grey’s Anatomy Season 17. The two girls and kidnapper were brought to Grey Sloan Memorial. Then viewers realized that the kidnapper was tied to a sex trafficking ring.
Opal (Stephanie Kurtzuba), the sex trafficker who claimed to be Erin Banks’ (Allie Doke) aunt, returned to the hospital to keep tabs on the kidnapper. But, before Opal could leave, Andrew DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti) spotted her in the parking lot. So Andrew and Carina DeLuca (Stefania Spampinato) decided to follow her.
The Grey’s Anatomy Season 17 fall finale also left fans on a cliffhanger involving Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo). Throughout the season, the doctors at Grey Sloan Memorial have been dealing with the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. And the show made it clear that death was possible when Meredith contracted the coronavirus. Then Meredith’s condition worsened in the fall finale, and she was put on a ventilator.
ABC releases a tense promo trailer for ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 17 Episode 7 and ‘Station 19’ Season 4 Episode 6
The Grey’s Anatomy Season 17 Episode 7 and Station 19 Season 4 Episode 6 promo trailer confirmed the spring premiere will pick up where the fall finale left off. Back at Station 19, Maya Bishop (Danielle Savre) tells the crew that Carina and Andrew “have eyes” on one of the kidnappers, Opal. But it seems the DeLucas aren’t being as careful as they should.
“I need you to come find us now because we’re following her,” Andrew says on the phone.
Then both Ben Warren (Jason George) and Maya send a warning over the phone. “Do not approach,” Ben says.
“These people could be really dangerous,” Maya adds, as the promo jumps to Opal.
Meanwhile, the Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 trailer highlights a number of dramatic shots of the cast, including Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr.), Jo Wilson (Camilla Luddington), Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd), and Teddy Altman (Kim Raver). Then the promo teases what’s next for Meredith. And it looks like she’s still on the beach in her “COVID dream.”
Finally, the preview ends with some concerning words. “Bailey, something’s happened,” Richard says.
Why ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and ‘Station 19’ fans think Ben Warren might be in danger
When ABC released the promo trailer for the next Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 crossover, many fans expressed their concerns on social media. Some viewers predicted that Richard’s final words were suggesting another character death was on the horizon. So naturally, those fans pleaded with the Shondaland shows to spare characters like Meredith, Carina, and Andrew.
Meanwhile, many viewers noticed that Richard addressed Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) directly. So some fans theorized that something will happen to Ben. “They better not have had us wait an extra week for the mid season premiere just to have Ben killed off,” a fan wrote on YouTube.
For now, Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 fans will just have to wait and see what happens when the Shondaland shows return on March 11. But the ending of the next crossover will be “unbelievable,” according to the promo trailer. Then Grey’s Anatomy executive producer Andy Reaser hinted that the spring premiere will be extraordinary when speaking with Entertainment Tonight in December 2020.
“The winter finale is a crossover and I think I can say this, the [spring] premiere is also going to be and it’s really thrilling,” Reaser said. “I would say, buy a hat and hang on to it because it’s thrilling and it’s unexpected.”
