Phillip Schofield cheekily invites Boris Johnson to join ITV Dancing on Ice cast

Philip Schofield has asked Prime Minister Boris Johnson to come onto a future series of Dancing on Ice in case he is looking at 'different career options'.

Speaking to Daily Star and other press ahead of the new ITV series, hosts Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby were asked who they would like to see appear on the show in the future.

Philip then hinted that Mr Johnson could take part, saying: "Well I think you've got to look for someone who's maybe looking at different career options or different things to do so that they can fill in the extra time.

"So maybe Boris, he has some extra time on his hands."

Holly joined in, saying: "And we have great office parties.

Phillip added: "Look at us with our great office parties and, what's more, we have all got just a little bit of cheese."

The comments came during a press conference ahead of the premiere of the new series of Dancing on Ice, which returns to ITV on Saturday January 16 2022.

This Morning presenters Philip and Holly will return to host the programme, alongside a celebrity judging panel including Ashley Banjo, Strictly star Oti Mabuse and ice skating legends Torvill and Dean.

Taking to the ice will be host of celebrity stars including Coronation Street actress Sally Dynevor, Happy Mondays dancer Bez, Love Island beauty Liberty Poole and S Club 7 singer Rachel Stevens.

They will be joined by paralympian Stef Reid, rugby star Ben Foden, reality TV star and former Love Island resident Liberty Poole, as well as Paul Gascoine's son Regan.

Completing the line up is former Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Brendan Cole, olympian Kye Whyte, Lorraine celebrity correspondant Ria Hebden, Pussycat Doll Kimberley Wyatt and The Vamp's singer Connor Ball.

Dancing on Ice will see the celebrity contestants partnered up with a professional ice skater, ready to perform enthralling routines in the hope of being crowned the next champion and follow in the footsteps of 2021 winner and radio DJ Sonny Jay.

Dancing on Ice returns this Sunday on ITV and ITV Hub at 6.30
