Taking on the role of Rose in the Titanic, EastEnders actress Rose was stunning as she performed the Foxtrot with Strictly Come Dancing professional Giovanni Pernice. The pair received their highest score to date with Giovanni detailing how they worked to ensure Rose was confident performing to the music.

“Congratulations, it was so beautiful, your first ballroom dance of the competition. How did you find it?” host Claudia Winkleman asked.

Rose replied: “I really liked it because I can actually have time to think about it. It’s slower which means, ‘Right I can think about what I’m doing.’

“When it’s fast, I’m like,” she continued waving her arms frantically.

Claudia probed: “How hard was it because you couldn’t see him?”

“No but I actually realised it was better that way because in the other dances I have to rely on counting,” Rose explained.

“Thinking of the dance and counting at the same time but he does all of the music for me, all I have to do is listen to his body.”

Claudia asked: “So you just feel it?” with Rose confirming it.

Giovanni went on to comment he was “super proud” of Rose: “What she said is right, we rely on the body movement.

“It’s the first time actually that one of my partners follow me all the way. I’m not worried about where my partner’s going to be because she’s just following me.

“Very, very proud, it’s like dancing with a professional at some points.”

They turned their attention to the judges with Rose being awarded nine across the board totalling 36 points.

Viewers took to Twitter to comment on the stunning routine with Diane Blackmore posting: “Wow how amazing was that? I filled up. Incredible Rose and Giovanni #strictly.”

Nicholas Mackrill added: “Tear in my eye tonight watching Rose n Giovanni. Just Beautiful. #Strictly.”

“Rose and Giovanni were fantastic. Such a beautiful performance #StrictlyComeDancing #Strictly,” Laura tweeted.

Rob shared: “Rose & Giovanni’s dance made me emosh. Best dance so far. Probably because there was no vocal music just a beautiful piano #Strictly.”

Lesley Robinson commented: “Rose and Giovanni were the dance of the night for me. Simple and beautiful #Strictly.”

Following the Saturday show, it was revealed John Whaite and Johannes Radebe had overtaken Rose in the betting as favourite to win.

Rose had odds of 9/4 with Ladbrokes to lift the Glitterball Trophy but John has now edged ahead with 2/1.

AJ Odudu is still putting the pressure on with odds of 4/1 to win.

At the end of the leaderboard however, Katie McGlynn and Dan Walker are favourites to be knocked out next.

Jessicaa O’Reilly of Ladbrokes said: “John and Johannes wowed on Saturday evening and after finishing top of the leaderboard with 39 points it should come as no surprise to see them top the betting.”

“Katie didn’t quite hit fifth gear once again and punters are piling into her odds of leaving. However after a shocking start to the show it could be Dan who’s waltzing out of the competition this weekend.”

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Sunday on BBC One at 7.10pm
