Over the weekend, Sunday Brunch presenters Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer were joined by celebrity guests Snoochie Shy, Fearne Cotton, Vernon Kay and Kiefer Sutherland. Guest chef Judy Joo whipped up a storm in the Channel 4 kitchen while singer-songwriter Miles Kane performed live with his latest single. On the popular daytime show, hosts Tim and Simon introduced a new segment called “Pet E.R” which allowed viewers at home to send in pictures of their poorly pets. While both hosts were amused by some of the photographs, some disgruntled fans were unimpressed and flocked to social media to express their distaste.

On the show, Tim introduced their new feature: “We often talk about pets on the show and we love nothing more than seeing our furry friends living life to the full, I shouldn’t be smiling, but today we are paying a visit to pet ER.”

“The first pet we have is Imogen’s cat kitty, who after days of hospitalisation, scans and tests, it’s a worrying time.”

Meanwhile, both hosts began to giggle before Tim said: “I’m trying not to laugh.”

One viewer, @Charlie__Tweets simply wrote: “That was a very awkward item #SundayBrunch.”

One user called @P_B_2_3 added: “You want people to send in photos of their “ill and no longer here” pets so you can make fun of them for your entertainment? Well done guys you’ve really hit a new low #SundayBrunch.”

Tweeter @Luke_Lloyd95 stated: “Are Tim and Simon absolutely wasted? That Pet E.R segment was absolutely horrific to watch #SundayBrunch.”

While @SharonGrant5961 voiced: “This is a dreadful segment. Who in their right minds decided it’s a good idea to show poorly pets n take the pee. What is it next week which of the pets died,” they added: “Rethink Sunday Brunch.”

During her time in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, pet lover Snoochie was given a cushion with a photograph of her cat’s face printed on one side, as her luxury item.

User @TraylorHolmes said: “Please never do that pet E.R segment again. Laughing at injured animals is not funny in any way #SundayBrunch.”

While @KimElizabethF claimed: “Imagine having a pet that was hit by a cat & having the p*** taken out of it on national TV #SundayBrunch.”

One angry viewer, @patches93338615, remarked: “The two guys made this segment into a joke!

“They laughed throughout when viewers shared what their pets had gone through! Not ok!!”

Fearne, Vernon and DJ Snoochie didn’t share the same humour as their Channel 4 hosts.

The former Celebrity Juice star gushed: “Animals get well soon, we love you.”

Viewer @spow004 remarked: “Well done @Fearnecotton for trying to save this car crash.

“Best thing  Sunday Brunch can do for the pets is go back to playing Pets TV clips of wildlife. That was a hit!”

Later on, in the show, award-winning actor Kiefer Sutherland discussed his latest project, much to the surprise of viewers.

The TV star spoke about his “dream” job which included writing music, resulting in his third studio album release titled Bloor Street.

Former T4 presenter Vernon Kay also paid a sweet tribute to acting legend Peter Sellers after the TV star revealed he had bought one of his hats as memorabilia.

While Snoochie gave an insight into her career as a DJ and opened up about overcoming her insecurities regarding her facial birthmark which became key during her time in I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!.
