A couple of stunned tourists captured what they claim to be a ghost staring out of the window from the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here castle in Wales.

It was an eerie surprise for Gina Louise Towler who was visiting Gwrych Castle in Abergele along with her partner, when she spotted an ambiguous white figure from the ancient window of the impressive and old building.

The couple only clocked the odd presence of the mysterious silhouette standing in the historical castle’s upper window once they looked at the photos they had taken during their trip when they returned home.

"My partner took the photo and we noticed the figure in the window when we looked at them later," Gina told The Sun.

She continued: "We went before it was used for I'm a Celebrity and there were a handful of people there.

"None were similar to the figure in the window plus we were the last to leave. My daughter and I were there last year and the room in the photo was shut because of Covid.

"We believe it was the personal writing room of the lady that had lived there.”

Gina’s supernatural discovery is an experience that is far from unusual, seeing there have been ongoing ghost sightings at the 200-year-old castle for many years.

As a matter of fact, legends say that the historical building has been haunted by the spirit of Winifred Cochrane, the Countess of Dundonald who lived there in the 19th and early 20th century.

A castle worker previously claimed to The Sun that a "few people" said they had seen similar figures, including a "floating woman in white".

The source explained that the ghost of a gamekeeper at the legendary castle ad also been felt by ghost hunters, as the worker added that the 'lady in white', or the 'Countess', could have been scorned by her husband.

He allegedly "stripped the castle of valuables."

It certainly doesn't look like it was a happy marriage.

The tales of the Countess of Dundonald, which according to many still haunts the property, tells the story of an unhappy marriage between the Countess herself and Douglas Cochrane.

He was the 12th Earl of Dundonald, and according to history, had chosen to spend his time in Scotland instead of with his wife, leaving Winifred alone in Wales.

However, the legend of the Countess is just one of many scary stories involving the castle.

Indeed, according to the official Gwrych Castle website, "real life ghost encounters by visitors to Gwrych Castle are commonplace".

Furthermore, articles from 1913 also support that Gwrych Castle is haunted, as at the time, the legend of The Headless Monster developed.

They were based on a person’s claims that they had seen a 'headless monster' in a field over a hedge next to the castle.

Additionally Gwrych Castle was featured in 2019, on the fifth season of TV series Mysteries of the Abandoned in an episode titled Haunting of Heartbreak Castle.

It is safe to say that the expected cast for the new series of I’m A Celebrity – which is set to air this Autumn – will have a thrilling time.
