Season four of The Handmaid’s Tale saw June Osborne (played by Elisabeth Moss) finally become a free woman and reunite with her family in Canada, however, her daughter Hannah Bankole (Jordana Blake) was still missing. Ahead of the premiere of Hulu’s dystopian series, fans are convinced her husband Luke Bankole (O.T Fagbenle) will head to Gilead to rescue their child.

As June arrived onboard a ship to Canada, viewers didn’t get the reunion they expected.

Most assumed she would run out into the arms of her husband after being separated for seven years but instead, he went to her.

Still coming to terms with the fact she had made it, June appeared to have been gathering her thoughts before stepping on Canadian soil.

When Luke entered the room, she began apologising profusely and regretted her decision to go to Canada and seek freedom while her daughter was still in Gilead.

On multiple failed attempts to escape, June tried to snatch her daughter back from the home she was housed in and reunite her with Luke.

When June was housed in Commander Lawrence’s (Bradley Whitford) house, she tricked his mentally ill wife Eleanor Lawrence (Julie Dretzin) to go on a walk to Hannah’s school.

Eleanor was housebound but a desperate June had no choice because as Handmaid she was not allowed outside on her own.

However, this plan failed, when June was refused entry into the school because she was a Handmaid.

In season three, June made it to Hannah’s home but with the sound of sirens and Guardian chasing after her all she could do was cry outside her bedroom door – at the reality of another failed attempt and inevitable punishment.

During their emotional reunion, Luke was able to console June and reassure her, they would continue looking for their daughter from Canada where it was safer.

After June’s many failed attempts, fans are convinced Luke will venture into Gilead and rescue her.

This was hinted at, during his interview with when actor O.T was speaking on his character and said: “He feels a great sense of incompetence. But also, he was not active enough early.”

In season four, June met up with Commander Nick Blaine (Max Minghella), who also happened to be her lover while she was in Gilead.

Despite his authoritative position in Gileadean society, Nick loved June and even helped her escape on multiple occasions.

During their meeting, he provided June with a file compiled with information about Hannah’s whereabouts.

Season four could see Luke use this information and go undercover in Gilead to bring his daughter to freedom.

Luke would easily assimilate into the state because he was a man and only women had been completely stripped of their rights, so he wouldn’t arouse any suspicion.

With Nick as an ally, the upcoming instalment could see the two work together to rescue Hannah.

Luke wouldn’t be second-guessed if he was accompanied by Nick – thanks to his power and privilege.

Viewers will have to tune in to season five, to see if this theory will come true or if they will be able to reunite with Hannah at all.

The Handmaid’s Tale season 4 is available to stream on Hulu in the USA and airs Sundays on Channel 4 in the UK.
