BBC viewers shared their love for the Queen’s opening sketch with beloved British children’s fictional character Paddington Bear as she opened her Platinum Party at the Palace.

On Saturday (June 4), the biggest names in music joined to put on a stellar performance for the third day of the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations.

For her Golden Jubilee back in 2012, Her Royal Highness opened the event with none other than James Bond himself as Daniel Craig escorted her to the historical event dressed in a dapper tuxedo.

But it’s fair to say viewers were impressed with her new sidekick as her furry friend joined her for afternoon tea at Buckingham Palace.

The sweet sketch sees the pair share their love of afternoon tea and marmalade sandwiches, with the Monarch even opening her iconic black handbag to reveal her very on ready-made supply of sandwiches inside.

As the beloved bear shows Her Majesty what he hides underneath his hat, The Queen confirms, "So do I" before she opens up her bag and reveals the scrumptious treat, adding: "I keep mine in here."

The Peruvian-born bear also causes chaos in the Palace by accidentally depriving the very forgiving Queen of another cup of tea and splattering cream from a chocolate eclair all over the Palace Footman.

He ends the scene thanking Her Majesty for her service, saying: "Happy Jubilee Ma'am. And thank you. For everything" which she modestly replied: "That's very kind."

After watching the two-minute sketch, fans flooded to Twitter to share their love for the dynamic duo on social media.

One user penned: "If you take anything away from this … take the absolute joy on the face of The Queen having tea and marmalade sandwiches with Paddington Bear #PlatinumPartyatthePalace. [smiley emoji, love heart emoji].”

Another agreed:“No words to describe how much I absolutely LOVED this! It was simply HAPPY and very GLORIOUS. Perfect [three applause emojis] #PlatinumPartyatthePalace..”

A third added: “The Queen and Paddington Bear is the iconic duo I ddin’t know I needed in my life and certainly the best thing to ever grace my TV screen! All the warm fuzzy feels#PlatinumPartyatthePalace.”

One fan of the show chimed in with: “That Paddington Bear sketch is up there with when The Queen met James Bond for the Londond 2012 Olympics opening ceremony for me. Brilliant! #PlatinumPartyatthePalace.”

Following the airing of the loveable sketch, a spokesperson from Buckingham Palace commented on the joyous collaboration with the loveable bear.

They said: "Her Majesty is well known for her sense of humour, so it should be no surprise that she decided to take part in tonight's sketch.

"There was an interest in filming and animation process and the opportunity to invite a famous bear to tea was just too much fun to miss.

"While The Queen may not be attending the concert in person, she was very keen that people understood how much it meant to her and that all those watching had a great time."
