And unlucky in love and life Ashley suffered his first wife being murdered – and died leaving his second a widow.

But what happened to them all and where are they now?

Fred Elliot

John Savident played Fred Elliot from 1994 until 2005 when he decided to quit the soap.

Ashley’s Uncle Fred, he was a butcher, the owner of the Rovers and the victim of a fake Thai bride scam through the years.

Fred was killed off less than a year after John quit the soap with him dying of a massive heart attack in Audrey Roberts’ front parlour on his wedding day to Bev Unwin.

After leaving the soap John went on to appear in Holby City, Above Suspicion and The Phantom of the Opera at the Royal Albert Hall.

He appears to have retired from acting.

Ashley Peacock

Ashley Peacock was played by Steven Arnold and he has remained somewhat prolific since leaving the soap in 2010.

The 41-year-old played the lovable butcher on the ITV soap for 15 years before being killed off in the soap’s dramatic tram crash story line to celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2010.

Steven has gone on to have a successful career on stage and even starred on Dancing On Ice in 2011.

He also appeared in Casualty as well as Thick as Thieves and On the Market.

But he has had most of his work from short films – appearing in countless over the years.

Claire Peacock

Claire Peacock was Ashley’s second wife – and the only surviving adult in the family.

Her last appearance on the cobbles was in January 2011 – nine months after it was announced her character had been axed.

She took a break from acting after her exit but later returned to screens.

Julia played the part of Susie Gregory in an episode of BBC One’s daytime soap Doctors in 2015.

And she returned with more appearances up until 2019.

Susie was introduced as the love interest of Howard Bellamy's old army friend Major Ewan Davies.

Most recently she appeared in the second series of The Bay as well as making a guest appearance in Call the Midwife.

But most notably she is a performing arts teacher at a college in Bolton where she helps guide the next generation of actors.

Maxine Peacock

Hairdresser Maxine Peacock arrived in Weatherfield in 1995 and made an immediate impression.

Not backwards in coming forwards she slept her way through the cobbles until eventually bedding her best friend’s bloke and losing that friendship for good.

She later met butcher Ashley Peacock and hit it off – later marrying and having a child.

But their happy lives were cut short in 2003 when Maxine didn’t go to a party and was instead murdered by Richard Hillman.

After her Corrie exit actress Tracy Shaw’s career didn’t take off – and she took time out of the spotlight.

She went on to small roles in Mile High, Grease Monkeys, Doctors and made two appearances on Casualty.

However she returned to fame last year, appearing on Loose Women to explain why she took a step back.

She said: “I took some time out just because it all got a little bit too much for me and I needed to respect that my kids were going to be brought up in the world I was living in and I felt really uncomfortable about that.”
