Husband in ‘truly dark’ place after wife shoots kids and burns them in suicide
The husband of a woman who killed their kids and herself has broken his silence.
Oreanna Antoinette Myers, 25, left a note saying she wasn’t strong enough to defeat her “demons” before shooting the boys in the head and burning their bodies in a house fire.
Brian Bumgarner said the aftermath of the tragedy in West Virginia, US, was a "truly dark time" and urged his social media followers to “never leave someone in an argument", the Sun reports.
He has also recently urged people to “take a lot of pictures with the ones you love. You never know when it’ll be the last time you see them."
Myers had argued with her husband about his decision to live with relatives during the work week to alleviate transportation issues.
She then fatally shot her three children and two stepchildren, from Brian's previous marriage, at their home near Williamsburg before setting their house on fire and taking her own life on December 8, 2020, authorities said.
The children were between one and seven-years-old. Their names were: Haiken Jirachi Myers, one, Arikyle Nova Myers, three, Kian Myers, four, Riley James Bumgarner, six, and Shaun Dawson Bumgarner, seven.
Mr Bumgarner was not at the home, as he stayed with relatives during the week due to transportation issues, according to Greenbrier County Sheriff Bruce Sloan.

One day after the horrific killings unfolded, he wrote: "I just wanted to say sorry and thank you for everyone reaching out to me and messaging me.
"I can't get back to all of you but in a truly dark time, I feel like I could fall and all of you guys would catch me.
"I gives me something….. idk what. May it be hope or strength or grit I dont know. All I know is I have something and that's not nothing!!!!"
Mr Bumgarner's most recent Facebook post reads: "Here's my advice. Hug everyone you love a lot tighter. Never leave someone in an argument. Be Present. Say I love you way too much.
"Take a lot of pictures with the ones you love. You never know when it'll be the last time you see them. Please don't take any second for granted."
Myers allegedly had a red mark on her face and her son asked if it was blood before the killings, disturbing surveillance video suggests.
It was revealed by investigators on Thursday who said Myers fatally shot five children before setting their house on fire and taking her own life.
