Kate Middleton’s mum shows fans stunning party decorations for Duchess’ birthday

The Duchess of Cambridge's mother, Carole Middleton, has shared a behind the scenes look at Kate’s 40th birthday celebrations.

Kate marked the milestone on Sunday and reports suggest she likely had a low-key celebration with her family including Prince William and little future-king George, Louis and Princess Charlotte at the Cambridges’ home in Norfolk.

Carole was also in attendance and showed off her amazing decorations on the PartyPieces Instagram account.

As you can expect, no expense was spared for the Royal bash although there were a few down-to-Earth touches here and there.

Carole showed fans the wide array of decorations she had painstakingly provided which included three multi-coloured walkways and strings of confetti.

She’d also invested in some paper plates which said ‘Let’s party’ on them – they're believed to be a bargain at £3.99 which is reassuring for everyone who loves a rose gold celebration.

And the Royal's weren't lacking for colourful drink carriers either as Carole had splashed out on a host of glittering party cups which no doubt made the fizz they were drinking extra special.

Before Kate's big day she won big praise for a string of new official Royal portraits marking her milestone.

The future Queen was pictured in three relaxed poses, wearing different Alexander McQueen dresses and with her hair flowing.

Celebrated fashion photographer Paolo Roversi, famed for working with industry stars like Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss, described photographing the duchess as “a moment of pure joy” and said with her “positive energy” she can “bring hope to the whole world”.

The birthday heralds the start of an important decade for the monarchy and the future queen, who will be at William’s side as events progress, watching her young family grow up and pursuing her own charitable interests.

Roversi said: “Taking the portrait of Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge was a true honour for me and a moment of pure joy.

“I was moved by her warmth and friendly welcome and enchanted by her shining eyes that reflected the loveliness of her soul and her smile showing the generosity of her heart.

“It was a profound and rich experience for me, an unforgettable moment. I have met a wonderful person, a person who, with her positive energy, can bring hope to the whole world.”
