Man, 23, ‘murdered mum at dinner table and danced around corpse with his sister’

A man executed his own mum at the dinner table before dancing around her corpse with his teenage sister, Utah police allege.

Mike Lopez, 23, has been charged with the murder after Victoria Ramirez was fatally shot in her Springville home on December 23.

Newly released police documents indicate Ms Ramirez knew her son was going to kill her moments before she died as she sat with Lopez and her two teenage daughters at the table.

"All four were seated at the dining room table when [Lopez] pointed a shotgun directly at the victim," police documents claim.

"Mike turned towards his 14-year-old sister and they gave each other a head nod."

The younger sister proceeded to lock herself in the bathroom while the 17-year-old remained outside the door, police said.

"I know you're going to kill me, and I love you," Ms Ramirez allegedly told Lopez. He then allegedly shot her in the head with the gun, killing her instantly.

The 14-year-old sister left the bathroom and went to stroke her dead mother's hair, police claim, before dancing with Lopez next to the body.

Meanwhile the 17-year-old sister locked herself in the bathroom and called her older sister before escaping out of a window, KUTV reports.

The unnamed older sister then called the police.

When officers arrived they found Lopez uninjured in the basement bathtub.

The 17-year-old sister allegedly told police she believed her younger sister knew about their brother's plan to murder their mother at the dinner table.

She also claimed that Lopez gave her younger sister marijuana.

Police have said the 14-year-old girl was uncooperative during an interview, but she is reportedly not facing any charges. Lopez has likewise been uncooperative in multiple interview attempts, according to police.

Lopez remains in custody as authorities have deemed him a flight risk who may flee to join his dad in Mexico if released on bail.

He faces one count of murder, one count of domestic violence in the presence of a child, and a count of firearm use by a restricted person.
