‘Man with explosives’ takes hostages in Moscow and threatens to blow himself up

An unidentified attacker has taken hostages in an apartment in northern Moscow and is threatening to set off an explosion, local media reports.

An emergency source told TASS on Wednesday: "At the address Golovinskoe shosse, 8, building 1, an unknown person is holding hostages in one of the apartments. The attacker claims that he has explosive devices and he intends to detonate them," the source said.

How many people are being kept in the apartment is being investigated.

Now the entrance of the residential building is cordoned off, the residents have not been evacuated. At the scene there are law enforcement officers and emergency services.
