Masked gunman bursts into barber shop with gun as he ‘didn’t like new haircut’
A bloody altercation in a barber shop that bore all the hallmarks of an armed robbery was actually inspired by the gunman's displeasure over a haircut he received, police said.
A masked gunman was overpowered by patrons and staff when he burst through the door of New York Hair Barber Shop, a business in a small mall in Melbourne, Florida, USA.
He entered the shop and pointed the gun at several people before he himself was shot by the barber, police said.
Florida Today reported that the gunman, identified by police as Palm Bay resident Marlon Mascoe, 24, was shot in the hip.
He was treated at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne after being disarmed and apprehended by patrons and employees of New York Hair.
The shooting occurred about 3:25 pm on Saturday, Eastern Daylight Time.
“The investigation revealed that it wasn’t related to a robbery. It was actually related to a prior haircut transaction he was unhappy with, or an interaction inside the business,” Melbourne Police Lt. Ryan Schorer said.
Mascoe has been charged with aggravated assault with a firearm, Click Orlando reported.

It's not unusual for trouble to flare in barber shops. On May 31, an Illinois barber allegedly shot and killed a customer after he refused to pay for his haircut, Newsweek reported.
The barber, Deshon McAdory, 40, allegedly killed customer Christian McDougald, 31, at Studio 914 barbershop in Maywood.
"A person came into the store who's clearly the aggressor. He got a haircut, argued about not wanting to pay. There was an argument that ensued outside.
"As [McAdory] is retreating into the store, he is approached by the aggressor and fired one shot," Anthony Burch, McAdory's attorney, said to the outlet.
McAdory was held on a $250,000 bond and charged with first-degree murder.
