Met Office weather warnings: Danger to life alert as 125mm rain batters UK – Forecast

The weather warning is in place from 3am on Saturday morning to 6pm on Sunday night. Heavy downpours are expected to batter the country and bring disruption to every day life. The Met Office warns that a chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater in certain areas will cause threats to human life. There is also a chance of some communities getting cut off by flooded roads.

The Met Office writes: “Heavy rain will push north and west across the UK, clearing from much of the southeast England by Saturday afternoon.

“It is expected to remain heavy and persistent throughout Saturday and into mid-Sunday across eastern Scotland, the far northeast of England, much of Wales and southwest England.

“This is likely to bring flooding and some disruption to travel.

“Many places will see 25-50mm of rainfall, with totals of 100-125mm expected over the high ground of eastern Scotland.”
